New shape XSR 900
I saw two of them in real life for the first time today, the blue one is particularly ugly, and the black one isn't a great deal better, the seat is weird, it's too small to look like a single seat from the 90s and looks more like a 1970s Morini 3.5 seat, the bars are too wide, the headlight is too low and the instruments too small, it looks like a badly street fightered 1989 EXUP 1000, the front indicators are particularly nasty, we laughed at people who mounted the indicators on the road shroud of LCs in the 80s.

No, the shop was closed on Sunday, £9149 for a 0 miles blue one, I was trying to convince myself I wanted one, but they're ungainly.

Re: New shape XSR 900
Do you like how it looks?
I should like it, 80s styling, same power as my Suzuki, multi cylinder engine, but it's so ugly I don't like it, the seat area and headlight area need to look a lot better for me to buy one, it'd be easy to change, but I don't want to modify a brand new bike.

They look a lot better, really a surprisingly amount, with just the Yamaha headlight cowl/screen.

Not as much as the one I owned. But it's a little better in terms of shiny electronicsLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:22 pmDo you like how it looks?

Re: New shape XSR 900
I think it's a lot of bike for £9K, I wouldn't be surprised if I've bought one by the end of the week, but it's not instantly saying "buy me" like the Suzuki did.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:28 pmNot as much as the one I owned. Re: New shape XSR 900
I'd be really curious if you tested one. For me there was just something a out the noise of it. Pulling like a train and it's bwaaaaaaarp, bwaaaaaaarp, lovely. Smooth and nice to ride.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:31 pmI think it's a lot of bike for £9K, I wouldn't be surprised if I've bought one by the end of the week, but it's not instantly saying "buy me" like the Suzuki did.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:28 pmNot as much as the one I owned. If there was ever a bike I shouldn't have sold, that would be it. But would be utterly pointless owning now

Re: New shape XSR 900
£9k would get you a half decent Panigale.

When you get to the Pearly Gates, you can tell St Peter you bossed it on a Ducati Superbike and he'll give you a high five and all the best virgins, or something.

Re: New shape XSR 900
I don't think the local dealers have a test ride bike, but I might pop in and ask at the local place as they're really well placed for a test ride, right next to the A14 and some twisty roads.
See how I feel tomorrow about it.

I don't want a Panigale, I don't want any Ducati, I want a bike to ride, not make warranty claims on.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:37 pm £9k would get you a half decent Panigale.

Re: New shape XSR 900
Things I need to think about
1. Do I actually want one?
2. Should I hang on to the £4500ish it'll cost me to change as my car is getting quite tired at 100,000 miles and we could do with a new fridge and oven, and my wife would like to replace the whole kitchen.
3. And I'd still like to go to Suzuka next year.

It's not a bike, it's an event!
Life's too short, own an unreliable Ducati, lose £5k on it at trade in, it'll make you slightly less boring!

I think I'd rather be dull, I owned a Husqvarna that was made by Cagiva, isn't that enough unreliability for one person?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:47 pm It's not a bike, it's an event!

I've poured money into a stupid Kawasaki that's not nice to ride, isn't that enough financial stupidity for one person?

Re: New shape XSR 900
Headlight & seat sorted with cowls and it looks much nicer than a fridge, your car's probably good for another 30k mikes, surely.

Re: New shape XSR 900
I just had a look at the S2 website, if you have auto translate disabled the 'Crash Pads' are called 'tampon de protection'
Which made me snigger because I'm a teenage boy.
