Not in the slightest... I have 0 interest in motorbikes in any way or form mate. I post them for the site, not for a desire to buy or own one. I still have this little dream where this site becomes more than just this small bunch of people.

I just don't understand, still, the whole tyres thing. It's not an offroad bike, it won't ever be an offroad bike. But it has offroad tyres to look cool I'd guess, but it just looks wank and will perform worse than fitting proper tyres. Visually I don't understand why you'd fit offroad tyres it's not like they massively change the look of a bike, they just look wrong on a roadbike

Not just me who thinks that then It makes no bloody sense, I really don't get it. It's not like they even look better, they just look odd.

It's OK apart from the tyres and mirrors and, once again, the treatment makes the tank look huge. I'd ride it.

It's a malapropism - a senseless waste of human life with the words juxtaposed.

BTW if it weren't for the tyres I'd like it Starting with an R NineT is a good shout 'cause it's a modern bike with modern features etc. Fortunately tyres are easy to change.

Me too, i always think a set of slicks look 1000 times better than these tyres on a bike. It'd ride 1000 times better with them on too.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:58 am BTW if it weren't for the tyres I'd like it Starting with an R NineT is a good shout 'cause it's a modern bike with modern features etc. Fortunately tyres are easy to change.

I think it would be ok on the road with those tyres, theyre not super knobbly. I'm not riding in the wet anymore, and I haven't done for years, and I'm certainly not flinging myself into corners with my fingers crossed any more. I'd say they were perfectly adequate.
The styling is pretty good and would suit my lifestyle of turning up to a meet looking cool, and then massive disappointment when I take my lid off.

It might be OK, but I don't get the point of fitting them Clearly I'm just not with it.
I saw some kind've R NineT out in the wild on Monday. I'm pretty sure it was a BMW factory version, it had gun metal grey paint, wire wheels and a brown seat. It struck me as really smart, proper "looks way better in real life" bike. BMW have certainly come up with a winner in that bike IMO. I just say it was a factory one because it looked far too 'resolved' to be a custom. Everything fit right

Because it has koolz? I dunno, I wanted a "Raleigh Grifter" bicycle as a kid, maybe I never got over it?Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:37 am It might be OK, but I don't get the point of fitting them Clearly I'm just not with it.
TBH though, slicks are just as inappropriate on a road motorbike. Which reminds me, I had a Saracen mtb back in the 90s with slicks on - went like a rocket on the road (for a mtb) but was bollocks in the wet.
Something similarly lovely zoomed past me on the Bordeaux rocade last weekend - sleek and kind of in BoxerCup livery, maybe like this.? It was too fast for me in my car in the traffic, otherwise I'd have hoofed it for a better look.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:37 am I saw some kind've R NineT out in the wild on Monday. Perils of factory fit innit? You actually have to comply with construction and use regs

Re: CITRUS TWIST: A CUSTOM BMW R NINET FROM SHANGHAI
They look pretty good to me. Some lovely engineering in those machines and beautifully finished. The old OEM versions they came from just look old and boring in comparison even though properly maintained, they'd still be cracking machines.
As I have often said, if you're going to ride a bike like that, you need to be its maker. It says "look what I can do" and "this is what I want in a bike", not "look what someone else did". You can admire the talent it takes to make a machine to that standard and appreciate perhaps, what the intent was in the design which may be practical or aesthetic.
If on the other hand, you just bought it off someone else, it's never really any sort of personal statement.
