You could go watch some racing at Laguna.
I've been to both 25 years ago, if I go I want it to be something special.
Last time we went to California in 1999 we spent £3K on the trip for two of us, so I should get over spending £10K+ on going to Japan, but I'm a bit worried what we'd do in evenings as none of speak Japanese in any way, but we'll see what happens.
There’s always an interesting restaurant that some blogger is recommending.
The jet lag is quite persistent (in my case)

Nagoya was a bit boring (only stayed for a couple of nights )
The Hato bus tours are pretty good esp to Fuji -
Summer is peak for tickets though.
The signage in English has improved in the time I’ve been going there (( my in-laws live in the boonies way down south and it’s even better there)
Have a look at weekly mansion rentals but bear in mind they can be a bit small.

Fuck the expense.... the memories you'll make will be priceless.

Ya didnt arrive with money, and ya can't take it with ya... ideally the last cheque you write should bounce.

I had a dig around for 'sleeps four' places and some look interesting. One out to the east of Tokyo in the 'burbs (the review says it's a bit like going back to the 50s!) 20 mins out from the centre was under $200/night. Some were less than that but looked v tiny. Another one waxed lyrical about the owners who showed them around the apartment, how everything works etc and basically acted like guides - even took them out for drinks a couple of times. The central stuff sounds v noisy - they make a point of saying 'earplugs supplied'. :D

Get yourself down to Pembrey next week-end - come on you miserable fecker- none of this " Oh Snetterton is only 200 yards from my gaff, that Wales is tooo far...", or "Oh I don't do track days any more " , or " I'm an unsociable bastard and don't like any of you or talking to people" - that one doesn't hold water as we all know you go to some of those stand-around bike-show things and stand around with other ageing bike enthusiasts so why not Pembrey- as a mainland long-time contributor you are well overdue , just to drink beer all day and tell us all what a load of tossers we are / how shit our bikes are- and at least one of us wants to see if you reallly are as miseralbe IRL as you come across on-line ;)

Anyway, main reason for suggesting it, is if you do, you can talk to Isabella my OH- she'll give you a view on Japan (probably whether if you want one or not  (, but seriously though, she lived and worked out there for a year or two teaching, so does have a fair view, albeit a fair few years ago.
I've never been, but from everything she's told me, Iccy's on the money ( :D ) on this one and said you will have to spend a lot more than 10k if you all want to have a nice trip, which we all do eh...

A place I’ve always wanted to go.

I’m still looking at prices but it’s a lot of money if unfortunately like me your money’s finite.

It may be an anathema to you but I popped into a big name travel agency and priced up a custom 3week/3 Centre holiday including flights and although expensive it was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be and cheaper than I could find myself. So don’t discount that avenue even if it’s just to get you the basics.
