I want a older shape one in Lucky Strike colours... with a 12 Blandit engine. Be a proper sleeper.

Laydeez un gennelmen, I give you the Phillippe Starck-designed Aprilia Moto 6.5:

Funnily enough, there's one in the window of an opticians near me.

Is it one of the orange ones? I really quite fancy one of those.

Only if you changed the suspension and brakes as well!
Spent a weekend with a 'katana' 750 model. Calling it bland would make it more exciting than it really was!

Around 2006/7 my local dealer had one in that someone had bought, ridden home, put it in the garage and never used it again. They thought it would go for decent money.

They weren't exactly trouble free though and had the turning circle of an oil tanker.

Never knew this but the K100 engine was based on a Peugeot car engine apparently.

A Morini Dart

Basically a Morini 3 1/2 (which I have previously owned) engine in a Cagiva 125 Freccia chassis, dressed up with some almost all-enclosing plastic to make it look like a late 80s CBR....

Image

Not a great performer and a flop commercially, they look better than they actually were (and that's if you love the looks :D ) - I still like them :)

When I was 16 I had a little book...

I lusted after all the 125/250/350's. The Dart was one of them!

There was an old 600 round these parts with an 1127 GSXR donkey in it. Boy could ride it too.

Yeah, it was the old suitcase engine that was in loads of old late 70s froggy stuff, it was built to lie nearly horizontal in the car, so lying it flat wasn't a problem.

The BMW engine was reliable though, the car one ate head gaskets. I remember pulling the engine out of a Renault 14 with my Uncle when I was about 13, to go into a Talbot Samba. 😱😱

Most of my collection are bikes that everybody wants, CR500s, XT500s, RS250 etc. but I have always hankered after one of these:

Image

I don't think they make the top ten list of desirable machines, possibly not even the top 100. But they are as reliable as the day is long brutal utilitarian "styling", filthy two stroke and yet LEZ/ULEZ compliant due to its age. I like the absurdity of that scenario plus the no worries over tax/mot thing is a real bonus.

Ye olde nut crusher. The bike shop where I grew up used to sell them. Next to GPZ900s and Katanas.

AFAIK they made a proof of concept with a pug engine but then developed their own for the actual K100?

I could write a long list of bike's that are popular but hold no appeal to me..
I do like fz750s. I had a fully faired one but the half faired one is much nicer. There's a few resto mod 750s around with 17" wheels and posh suspension and they look really cool imo.

My abiding memory of mine (later 1200 version) was the very brief puff of blue smoke on starting after it had been stood for a while. I was told 'they all do that when they've got a few miles on because of the angle of the engine'. Never did work out if it was true, or why.

Always wanted one but no idea what I’d do with it.
I liked the TRX & TDM Yamaha's,nearly bought a TRX850 in 2013,but at the time funds were tight & it was the wrong colour.I really like the Blue & the Red with the black fade colour schemes .
If a TRX came up at a bargain price I'd buy it,but they seem to be going up in value.

It's because the oil settles over the valve stems when they stop. As the motor cools the cylinder on the compression stroke starts to pull oil past the valve stem seals due tovthe partial vacuum created. Plus as the seals and valves wear, the oil can enter the cylinder anyway.
