I am, obviously, picking Honda's 52° 650 vtwin series - and before you concede that the hawk or bros have some merits - I'm choosing the really ugly sister, the ntv650 shafty.
Beloved by dispatch riders and commuting nerds everywhere. Great motor, shame about the face, but you can fix that.

As also used in the Honda Transalp and the original Africa Twin.

And NOT used in the Honda XLV750R - which uses the 45° v-twin (with 90° crank pin offset and air/oil cooled) similar to that used in the PC800 (liquid cooled). Both used hydraulic tappets.

The Aprilia Mana 850 a great and fairly innovative bike, all be it with a scooter engine,

so that meant a CVT transmission (not dual clutch) with 3 twist'n go modes, or use the 6 speed thumb changer OR the foot change, or a combination of all three.

A dummy tank that held a crash helmet and the fuel tank filler was under the rear pillion seat ( now where did Honda get the ideas for their NC range from?).

Great at traffic light GP's as no clutch to worry about, just wind the throttle hard. Pootle about and as soon as you wanted to hoon, just click down on the foot change and away you went.

Had one on test at work for a month or so. We all loved it, but it's distinct looks made it stand out, so we couldn't use it. I think the work fleet has a few DCT Honda's on it now.

I hear lots of hate directed toward 'transformer' bikes,such as my Z1000,even from owners of the previous models. The Yam MT10,gets it too. My eyes tell me they look class,aggressive and pointy. The Sugomi style of my own does it for me.

Maybe my Gen 1 FZ750 in Lawson colours.Back in the day everyone gushed about Suzuki GSXR 750's,I also liked them but being a contrary fecker I didn't want a Gixxer like everyone else,I wanted a FZ750.
Mines currently parked up in a corner of the man cave awaiting a resto


I could write a long list of bike's that are popular but hold no appeal to me..

Dunno why you think other people don't like them, I've got one, so have Terry Rymer and Steve Parrish, I know someone with at least 3 of them, I know quite a few people who like them, but the 1985 GSXR750 is more exciting.

Not for the performance and handling or the looks or just because I had one. One of the reasons I had one was it was 'logical' - across the frame, water cooled v-twin and shaft rotating in the same plane + tubeless tyres. (I always thought you could drop the engine out and use it for all sorts of things ie boats etc).

(I liked Guzzis too).

As far as I could tell the basics were there to be a decent motorcycle, it's just that a lot of people couldn't see past the funky exterior. I really like them and think that all the design elements work very well together.

A mate of mine, who is a graphic designer, hates them though...

From memory, they're very similar to ride to the early Pegaso (the sporty one), I think they've got a 4 valve head and the Pegaso has a 5 valve head (with a fancy skew ground cam). Orwell Motorcycles in Ipswich used to be an Aprillia dealers and they had a 6.5 as a demonstrator, everyone had a go on it and came back saying how good it was, but I don't think they sold any apart from that one.

For me amongst people I know no one gets the Harleys I like, I also like the Suzuki gsx750f both the old ugly ones and the newer really ugly ones
