Lovely. Top engineering and execution. There is nothing superfluous, everything you see is there on merit and is entirely functional.

it lacks the beauty of some of the GP bikes of yesteryear - it simply doesn’t compare to something like a Cagiva 500.

It's got that angular thing that you like, but I think the majority of bike racing enthusiasts that were watching racing in the 80's and 90s would agree the 500's looked nicer and were a better era.

Maybe, but we're in the now, not the 80s.

It's going to have all the electronics, geometry, handling, tyres, brakes, fuelling all perfect

Always going to be though isn't it considering where the donor comes from. So not a massive shock.

I was surprised when I got to the price. I thought it was going to be more. Sure it's not going to get bought on the money from a paper round but if you're in that sort of game it's not bad at all.

Realistically a man in a shed could knock something up 85% as decent for most people for £15,000 using a base model 890R and a fairing.... Essentially that would be all that was needed. In the same way they do in Triumph world with the 765RS and convert it into a Daytona.

The devil is in the detail and when anyone begins a project,then they realise how much work and talent goes into making the visualised item a reality. Not to mention cost.

I thought it was a KTM.

They haven't made it very unique have they, it's supposedly bespoke and it just looks like a KTM, with a KTM engine and parts.

They've always been that though, they used to be 690s with a sports front end/riding position. Again as you say they were 'bespoke' but only in a very loose sense

its a bespoke frame. so apart from the engine it is. even got roto moulded seat / tank so theres some investment in proper tooling going on

So fun little fact for you...it's actually significantly cheaper to make moulded carbon fibre body panels at a prototype level than 'cheap' plastic ones, so I'm assuming that's what this thing has.

Fun fact, the 690 is the same and I spoke to Mr Kramer at Snetterton a while ago and he showed me round the bike. He is a very nice man.
