That raises a very good point, my first wife was on a jury and to be blunt, she's not exactly Einstein. She told me afterwards she couldn't make head nor tail of most of the legal stuff and just went along with the rest of them.

I wouldn't consider myself qualified (i think I'm exempt though) for jury service, it's not like a truck driver from Ballymena should be in a position to make those type of decisions.

Yeah but the point is that its meant to be a cross section of your peers, and its the judge's role to impartially explain the intricacies of the law.

But in reality most of us don't want to do jury service because it costs us in time and money - and UK crime is not at all sexy and interesting like in the films.
