Not enough is done about those who lie about an assault, the lives destroyed by lies and false accusations is unacceptable.
Assuming that is true, it seems very odd, given that he in no way resembled the photo-fit which you would assume was created with the help of the victim. Then, when he voluntarily agreed to take part in an identity parade, the victim picked him out.

So it's been ruled today that the tax on the poor will be going ahead. Struggling families will be faced with an additional £200 per month bill to drive their car, on top of the cost of living already, all due to ULEZ being ruled as lawful. This comes despite the reasons for ULEZ being to clean the air up - but you can carry on doing what you have been doing already, if you pay £2,400 per year to Tfl.

There's actually a group going around waiting for the cameras to be installed, then removing them. The fitters know this and just shrug their shoulders. I guess it's just more money for them.

And Tony Bliar who signed us all up for this shit in the first place.
All of them posturing to make their 'mark on society' (read - enhance their after-retirement speaker credentials) by doing stuff in the UK that will hurt us but make the square root of fuck all difference to the planet. Politicians - all of them are shit!

Ah yes, Tony Blair who misled Parliament into taking our country into an illegal war, putting the UK on the map for terrorism - no one bats an eye lid. Yet someone has cake at work, with someone else at work and all hell breaks loose.

Well, to a point. He didn't actually have to put it to a Parliamentary vote, but he did and the total number of Conservative votes against was....2 (Labour 84, Lib Dems 52). So, either the Conservatives swallowed the lies and a chunk of Labour didn't or, just maybe, they were gagging for a bit of a shindig alongside the USA too.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 3:00 pmAnd Tony Bliar who signed us all up for this shit in the first place.

Oddly enough I was reading Douglas Murray in the (v right wing) Spectator today (I usually disagree with him on everything!) on why he thought, and still thinks, it was the right thing to do. Interesting read. Focuses on the treatment of the Kurds by Saddam and on his visits there with Labour's Ann Clwyd).
Coincidentally, Ken Clarke was on the radio recently. He couldn't understand why Blair was in the Labour Party and says he should have been a Conservative. (Probably wouldn't have got to be PM - maybe?).

I've always thought that. He concealed his true intentions and went along for the ride because it got him to the position of power he wanted. Had John Smith not succumbed to a heart attack it would have been a very different Labour party that came to power. I can't imagine JS ever countenancing the UK agreeing with and participating in the invasion of Iraq.Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 5:22 pm Coincidentally, Ken Clarke was on the radio recently. Possibly the Tory government at the time, which shows how much further right recent Tory governments have become.Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 5:22 pm Coincidentally, Ken Clarke was on the radio recently. Farage is still demanding resignations and it looks like he'll get them.
You can say what you want about him but he's very effective, if the Labour Party weren't so limp and useless then they'd take some lessons from him and do something about changing the dire situation the UK is in.

He's effective at rabble rousing. And he has a big enough following of the disgruntled to back him up. Until he stumbled over an issue and martyred himself he was pottering about in the depths of low-end telly and selling his time on farage-o-grams.
Personally I think he should be imprisoned for his shocking views on immigration.

That would set a very dangerous precedent. Can you imagine the jury room: "So we're all agreed, we think he's guilty but we don't want to risk a charge ourselves so we'll tell the judge we haven't reached a decision."
Every trial would end with a hung jury.

Re: In todays news...
So why can't the Labour Party rouse the disgruntled rabble?
Goodness knows there are enough disgruntled to rouse and certainly enough issues to pin one's colours to.
Farage is a cartoon character, I don't think he has very much of a loyal following at all, but he understands the working class and he consistently outperforms the party of the working class. He's just won a victory for every working person out there even if they don't understand what it is, he's performed on multiple levels, many will think he's great just because he's got some rich people sacked, whilst the thinkers will realise it's a bit more than that and see it properly.
If Starmer had balls like Farage (and got rid of that wretched shouty dim-witted sidekick) then he'd clean up.
