Don't expect to make a fortune from either an XT600 or FZ750, nobody wants either of them.

I don't,but if I rebuild them & they're tidy I'll enjoy the occasional bimble on them or see what I get offered in P/X.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 4:43 pm Don't expect to make a fortune from either an XT600 or FZ750, nobody wants either of them.

But doubt if you'd buy them especially
Re: Classic bikes... Do you have an urge ?
I own 1.5 175 Bantams plus a ton of spares, there's a good reason why it sits in the corner rusty. It could do an indicated 65 when I was 17 and weighed 8stone but they still took 100+yards to stop from 30.
I reckon it'd be dangerous on the road now. I've not ridden it since 1986.

I have a Triumph 650-engined thing.
It’s the standing around in a field side of things that bores me.
The good part is riding it.

I'd like an old Rudge 500, my old man had one back in the day.
Got an old photo of him on it and he looks as cool as penguin piss

IIRC classic starts at 25 years old and Vintage at 50?
Classic? Yes,
Vintage?
Fuck no.
I have two classics but made danm sure they had good spares availability. Some of thats getting less now but its still quite good.

I sort of do. I've (fortunately) been outbid on a couple fo RD400s and a 350LC in the past. I'm glad I was as i've no idea where i'd put them or when i'd' ever use them. I'd qlso love a 750 Four restomod, but same problem with owning one of those.

An OHV 500 single should keep up with traffic ok.v8-powered wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 7:42 pmI'd like an old Rudge 500, my old man had one back in the day.

Re: Classic bikes... Do you have an urge ?
I had two RD400s, they were shockingly disappointing in 1986, the reason I had two was because I thought there was something wrong with the first one, turns out they're all that awful.

They have trouble running reliably!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 9:00 am I considered a Bantam, but apparently even the 175 has trouble keeping up with modern traffic and I don't want to be a mobile chicane.
I'd also like an A65, because my dad restored one when I was in my early teens (90's).
The bike from year of birth thing, I've already decided on. 1978 T140... Or a Supa5

I have to say, if I had more space, I'd have more terrible junky cars and bikes - just to look at and fiddle with mainly.
Bu they would still have to appeal - mid last century brit bikes just leave me cold for example, as do 70s jap 2strokes.

With enough room any money I'd have a hanger full of JDM stuff from the 90's, cars and bikes.

I'm glad I haven't got any more room, I've gathered enough shite to last me for the rest of my life before it's finished.

Re: Classic bikes... Do you have an urge ?
I've also quite fancied a bike from my year of birth (1970) but I've never really been in a position to afford one and most are now out of budget, which is pretty non existent now I've bought my scooter or require too much work.

Ooh, 90's JDM wishlist for me would be:
Yamaha SDR 200
Suzuki Goose 350
CB400 Super Four
RVF400
Maybe a zxr250 too just for the noise at redline although I would probably only be able to ride it in 30 minute bursts before my hips and knees cried enough

Suzuki Goose 350
CB400 Super Four
RVF400

There you go, my riding impressions of your choices, the SDR and Goose I rode sometime between 1991 and 1994, the RVF in 2000 and I woned a Super Four 7 years ago for a couple of yearsDitchfinder wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 3:56 pm Ooh, 90's JDM wishlist for me would be:
Yamaha SDR 200 - slow and shite and unreliable
Suzuki Goose 350 - slow but not as shite as an SDR
CB400 Super Four - great little bikes
RVF400 - fantastic handling bike, engine has as much go as any 400 but feels flat

I do like a custom flying brick, but I do also kinda fancy a proper stock K100. Mostly 'cause I'm a filthy pervert. Who smells of piss.
