MCN Ducati sales rise again: Firm bucks the market trend to grow in first half of 2023

Ducati have announced sales are up 5% for the first six months of 2023 compared with last year – with the Italian brand delivering 34,976 bikes.

Last year, the firm enjoyed its best year ever, selling 61,562 bikes. Now 2023 looks set to eclipse that.

“This first half-year was Ducati’s best ever in terms of deliveries,” Vice President of Global Sales and After Sales Francesco Milicia said. “The supply bottlenecks experienced last year are now over but the global competition in the market is more intense in the post Covid-era also because of better product availability.

“Our commitment to reinforce the satisfaction of our Ducatisti is stronger than ever and their continuous trust gives all people in Borgo Panigale an extra motivation.”

Traditionally, the Ducati Monster has been the firm’s volume seller – and with a starting price of £11,295 it still represents the more affordable end of the firm’s model range.

But the Monster has been outsold by the markedly more expensive Multistrada V4 family of bikes, which starts with the £16,995 Ducati Multistrada V4 and runs all the way to the £26,595 Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.

In the first half of 2023, Ducati have shifted 6,382 Multistrada V4s (although there’s no version breakdown) and 4,299 Monsters. Third place belongs to the freshly updated Ducati Scrambler 800 family with 3,581 bikes sold.

Italy remains Ducati’s biggest market globally, with 6639 bikes sold, a 10% growth over last year. The USA is second – up 11% to 4505 machines – and Germany is third, also gaining a 13% growth with 4217 motorcycles delivered.

It's the Taipan effect.

I expect @ sales to increase dramatically.

TBF, I am a little surprised - even as a Ducati Owner. The last time I was on ProTwins and looking at stock I was surprised at all the v4 stuff is north of 25K. Whilst many may feel this is loose change, and even though Ducati is an expensive brand - it's a lot of money for a toy.
I am guessing most of the sales come from scramblers and monsters which are at the affordable end

Just had a quick look - it is the S versions that are 25K plus

Interesting that the top sellers - Multi, Monster & Scrambler - only make up 13,000 of the 34,000 units sold. The other 20,000 must just be Panigales, Daivels & Desert Xs??

Is the old saying "win on Sunday sell on Monday" still applicable? Ducati seem to be winning everything MotoGP and Superbike at the moment, maybe that's what's driving sales?

It's nice to think I'm the eponymous hero in the Ducati sales success... 8-)

None of their track success will be doing their sales any harm,at the very least. They are a dominant force for sure, but they've worked damn hard in those wilderness years to be where they are now.
