Classic Two Strokes

My last two 2 strokes, which I sold when I moved from the UK, were a 33bhp, 125 cc Cagiva Mito, and an Aprilia RS250. Both probably at the peak of road going 2 strokes.

Both were good fun to ride, relatively easy to maintain, and sounded great with expansion chambers.

Not entirely surprised given the number of scooter riders I see trailing one or both feet.This might explain that

That's just fashion that started about ten years ago. Dunno where it came from. They must go through a shed-loads of cheap trainers.

The kids are just copying German BMW GS riders.

I get a lot who when pulling out of a left hand junction in simulated conditions on CBT stick out their left foot Moto X stylee…… when I point out that their foot might actually make contact with the ground and grip which will then snap their foot under the swingarm and probably break their ankle most get the message

The “doctors dangle” waving the leg in the air does seem to actually have some effect at high speeds on braking and stability as Valentino Rossi was the first to do it so many of the top flight riders copied it and it now is a common feature in racing at most championships and some riders actually have both feet off the pegs on heavy braking (watch Jonny Rea) ….. on the road it’s just a copycat behaviour and a reason to point and laugh

On Super moto bikes sticking the inside leg out and forward makes the bike turn in better, but this could all be in my mind as I don't do it on a road bike.
