Re: Le Tour 23
Well, well...another breakaway....
A really interesting day in many ways. It's that even though the main event was pretty much decided it's all still v interesting and watchable. Don't think I've seen such a long line astern (part) peleton before apart from the formations you get in cross winds.

I can't remember when I last saw a roadie snap a chain,& the Shimano service car didn't have the right size frame & pedal combo for him,he wasn't very happy {Nils Pollit}
And getting beaten by a wheel rim after cycling that distance...
It was also good to see Philipsen fail to get the win after yesterdays shenanigans

Re: Le Tour 23
It's one of the intrigues of the sport. I think the reason the breakaway worked was nobody from other teams wanted to fully commit to close the gap just to get beaten by Philipsen in the sprint. He was clearly hoping they would.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 5:55 pm I can't remember when I last saw a roadie snap a chain,& the Shimano service car didn't have the right size frame & pedal combo for him,he wasn't very happy {Nils Pollit}

The speed throughout the ride fragmented the teams and you have to wonder who dictated that and how many days they could ride like it!

He was in bits at the end.
Can Thibaut P do it today? It's a long shot but he's got a bit of support.

Re: Le Tour 23
Not for the first time this Tour*, the commentators were reduced to saying 'this is unprecedented!'
* which has been absolutely top notch, really enjoyed watching. Got to wait another year now. The wimmin's Tour started today but it's not on any free channels. I'd quite like to see that if the coverage is half decent. Caught some one year and it was pretty good.

Here's the interview,it starts at 5.30,it's quite emotional & he talks about the suffering the rider's go through on a stage of the tour.
It was good hearing Peter Sagan at the end of the race
