There's lots of vids showing comparisons of his descending compared to Pog, he's quicker that's for sure...

But it's not for me just just dubious that he beat Pogacar by so much, but also by the amounts he destroyed everyone.

The difference between 1st-3rd was the same as the difference between 3rd-50th. I just can't see how Vingo could destroy EVERYONE by that much... There's just something Mmmmmm about it for me.

I must admit that with the history of doping in elite sport,especially cycling,that's the first thing I thought.It's not the fact that he set the fastest time,it's how far hew was in front that surprised me.

Exactly it does seem far too good to be true especially when you look at how good Pogacar was on the day and he still smashed him.

To put it into perspective, last years time trial was won by Wout Van Aert and Vinggegard came second 19 seconds behind this year Vingegard was 2 minutes 51 seconds faster that Van Aert who came 3rd!!!

Wowzers. I did (obviously) hear 2 mins 51 seconds but can't remember the times from the last TT bit I saw (last year)

I missed out on watching some of this stage. Had originally planned to but then we rearranged working hours and I no longer had the day off Couldn't even watch it live


So, instead of just recording the highlights I have sat down to watch them and I'm quite gutted. Basically the whole section that covers where I live and go most was barely mentioned Just a smidge of the route from Notre Dame du Pre down I know I can watch the full length version in French, but it really isn't the same Should have recorded it!!!


Anyway - highlights haven't finished, but I think I understand the 'pop' comment!!!

Not really, to put it into perspective of what actually happened - Vingegard slowed down, waved to the crowds and celebrated his winning the tour and to let Van Aert take the stage in thanks for his efforts, something that reduced Van Aert to tears in appreciation.

He was way ahead of Van Aerts pace up until the last few hundred metres when he sat up.

It's always a 'feel good' moment when the breakaway get the result,bit of a nail biter though!

I think that sort of thing is why it's my fave sporting event every year. The interest could have gone after the TT but it's not just one competition, it's several (jerseys), it's individual vs individual and at the same time team vs team AND it's like a different competition every day (mountains, sprints, heroic/bonkers breakaways etc) AND there can be everything from sun, wind and rain to snow AND there are battles that go on year after year AND it's free to watch on TV, marv to look at + the commentary is

When the wife of one of my mates told me that her granny back in New Zealand isn't into cycling but loved watching Le Tour because it's 'The worlds greatest travel show' I realised how appealing it is to people.
For me the tour has everything & there's nothing that matches it. At a push the small group or solo breakaway is my favourite stage,but even the mundane sprint stages make good viewing with the scenery & commentary leading up to the sprint,which as yesterday showed doesn't always go to plan
