For years I watched GCN every tuesday night, but Richardson got more & more irritating as it went on,to the point were I would hit the mute button when he spoke,so I don't watch it now, however GCN+ with the racing is well worth the subscription

It was just that some people don't get to watch in real time and they watch the highlights at 7pm. Seems a shame to tell them what happened and what the results are before they watch it.
Bustaspoke wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 8:47 am I always keep it vague about the results in any sport so as not to spoil things for people watching later
I do get that.

It just seems that there's a bit more info on the bike racing threads than the cycling. And I only get to actually watch the MotoGP!!

Maybe I can just guess more on the bike ones?!!

(Equally, if you haven't watched and don't want to know, why would you open the thread?!! :1 :1 )

Is Le tour not covered on French television?
Not on here, but I'm sure on other sites that someone would open the thread & take umbrage, perils of the internet

I'm not into road bikes at all but as the tour was passing 15 mins down the road, it seemed silly not to go !!

Being as it's France, we were able to park mere metres away and for free

Might not be clear in the photo but the rider has his hand on the front of the bottle while his assistant pushes it from behind. It took the rider way to long to take the bottle !

Over all I was glad I went to see it.

It's called a "sticky" water bottle. Nibali got a massive assist from this a few years ago to catch up with the peloton but the naughty boy got caught by the helicamera.

When they were lining up for the roll out I was getting nostalgic about past MTB holidays in Morzine & cursing for not getting the ferry last week.
They just said that one of the sprinters reckons they're putting out 360 watts & get dropped out the back on the climbs

It is, but TBF it's a fairly different vocab!! I'm still trying to catch up when the MotoGP commentators get excited and I kinda know what they would be saying in English!! With the cycling I do struggle to catch up. And I'm working! So I come to the thread for info before I watch the highlights (often the next day)!!

I do get it, and yes, in the past I've seen people throw a wobbly cos they opened a clearly named thread and found out a result - I just wouldn't open it if I didn't want to know the result!

But, I get it. I'll keep watching the highlights at breakfast to try and find out what happened to make you guys say cryptic stuff

Quite a day. I imagine the rest day will be welcome. :D

Ineos have woken up a bit and nice to see Yates back in the game too.

Nope. It's an incredibly tough day tomorrow but in reality that's pretty much it. Shame. I don't really like to see these things settled on a TT but it's as much part of it as mountains and sprints.

Did he swap bikes? They should take them all apart and look for batteries. :D

Enjoyed that TT. Pogs bike change seemed to be a waste of time. Today should be good. 👍

There's lots of vids showing comparisons of his descending compared to Pog, he's quicker that's for sure...

But it's not for me just just dubious that he beat Pogacar by so much, but also by the amounts he destroyed everyone.

The difference between 1st-3rd was the same as the difference between 3rd-50th. I just can't see how Vingo could destroy EVERYONE by that much... There's just something Mmmmmm about it for me.
