Just ordered the new Apple Watch Series 6 upgrading from a Series 4.
I have automatics but love the practicality and accuracy of a smart watch.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I do agree, but there's a difference between losing some money on a watch and paying 3k for a CW. CWs are generally in the £400 - £700 range (when in one of their regular sales). That price is too much of a jump and pushes it into SMP or Bremont territory.Harry wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 3:44 am
Holding value is a thing you can only apply to some watches/cars/bikes/etc.
Otherwise just buy them because you want them and accept that your money has gone.
I bought my daughter a CW watch a few years ago, it's a really nice looking watch and it's as good as any other brand in the regular cabinets in shops - although I think CW now only sell online?

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I’m with Harry on this - you can get some spectacularly expensive winders but I’m not sure what they do differently to the cheaper ones. The only caveat I would make is to make sure the turns per hour are adjustable. Different watches like different rates. There’s a website somewhere that lists the recommended turns.v8-powered wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:46 am So, watch winders - thinking of buying one as both my Submarimer and Seamaster are getting left unworn for around a week now the flashy Timex is getting daily use.
Not looking at spending bomb on one but preferably at least 2 watches at a time, possibly more as looking at n+1 options
This is the one I ended up with.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I found my old Seiko 7T62 0EE0 in a drawer in the spare bedroom when we were chucking them out.
Just like this one...
I've been wearing it the last couple of days, it's so much nicer feel than my other watches and I kind of like the smaller body that fits under my shirt cuffs better.
The glass is knackered. Many years ago I tried to polish some deep scratches out... it didn't work out well.
I can see replacement glass on t'bay, do they simply push out/push in. Should I stop being a tight wad and pay someone proper to do it?

If you've got the tools, and gaskets, do it yourself. If it's got a removable bezel it's a bit easier-ish.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:11 pm

Cheaper to get someone else to do it than buy all the tools I reckon.wheelnut wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 5:05 pmKungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:11 pm

That's very similar to my daily wear watch although mine is a 7T92 0ME0.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:11 pm I found my old Seiko 7T62 0EE0 in a drawer in the spare bedroom when we were chucking them out.

I only have 2 watches, the Seiko and an Accurist divers watch which never gets worn when I go near the sea as it has a leather strap. I sometimes wear it if I'm going out for the evening.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Are there any Speedmaster experts or afficianados here?
My dad passed away last week which was predictably awful. He did however leave me his Speedmaster. I've always liked it but I don't really know much about them. Though I know a lot more after reading up for the last few hours.
I think it must be a 105.003 1969 from what I've read, but it seems pretty tricky to be sure until you open them up. It's possibly got a non-original chrono hand too.
What's really annoying is that although he told me where, when and why he bought it, I can't remember any of it and nor can my mum.
If anyone wants a go at trying to nail down the year then I'd be very grateful.
