Amazon Prime Day(s)
Anyone found anything worth actually buying?
I spotted that they'd reduced the same model Huawei laptop I bought last week from £650 to £550. I paid £494 for it on the Huawei website.

Re: Amazon Prime Day(s)
The kids have picked up a dot each for their respective new homes, kinda half tempted on a 5” show at £40 but not that bothered.
The savings elsewhere don’t appear to be *that* good.

Re: Amazon Prime Day(s)
Tempted to get a Echo Show to hook up to my Ring doorbell, but thinking it would just clutter up the coffee table and what difference to looking at that as opposed to my phone? "Gadget Wants" is a terrible disease!

Mmmmm, ended up with a show and a ring cam for in the front porch! Not sure why I need it but I know that I do.

Nothing on sale in my "need" list. Nothing in the want list either...

All this talk of Amazon Show's got me thinking, a Show 5 would probably make a good bedside alarm clock that'll pay whatever online radio station I like as an alarm.
Would the screen be too bright at night time?

Being middle-aged and dull, I read Which? magazine. They've done a number of investigations and found that prices are simply ramped up in the weeks before and then 'slashed!' to whatever they were before. I ain't saying it's smoke and mirrors, but it certainly appears to be akin to smoke and mirrors.
In fairness to Amazon, it ain't just them either, by all accounts. A supermarket favourite is to have have items go up from, say, £1.49 to £1.69 at exactly the same time as there's a 'buy 2 for £3!' offer. Sneaky minxes.

I'd imagine they all do it to a lesser or greater degree - it's all part of the modern way of doing business & marketing, and if you're not doing it, then you're going to be left behind.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:56 pm Being middle-aged and dull, I read Which? magazine. For what it's worth I did buy a few things today, but nothing terribly exciting.

Even more sneaky, Tesco had beers at £1.50 each, or 4 for £6!

I'm sure they do. I've been after additional Eufy cams since I bought my 'starter pack' and they've never been this cheap that I have seen. Mind you I only bought in August.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:56 pm Being middle-aged and dull, I read Which? magazine. Yeah, being old and dull I read that too.
TBF to Amazon, the price of the Echo Dot was £50. It drops to 30 quid when the new version goes on sale on Friday (I think), so 19 notes is still a bargain.
I bought a BFO Denby cast iron casserole a few years back on Black...whatever. 65% off RRP. Cheapest I could find it anywhere else was still a sight more than I paid
