Wet track days

Post by dern »

Booked in for Saturday at Pembrey and normally this wouldn't even be a question in my head but the forecast for Pembrey this Saturday is thunder storms and heavy rain all day. I know the arguments for improving your riding and have done a load of wet track days.

My motivation is at an all time low for track days so I'm on the fence at the moment over this weekend but would you consider a day of rain worth the diesel, 6 hours on the road and a night in a tent?

Not a chance. No fun at all. I've been at many when it was crap all day. Only a few race lads were out on full wets. I just sat in the garage watching :)

Lol, I can see the logic behind that. If it was a dry start with a wet afternoon I'd give them a go but I'm not sure I can be arsed for a whole day of rain. I'll see what the forecast is tomorrow before making up my mind.

There's no pits so you'll be stood in the pissing rain between sessions :(

Yeah, I've got the van and the gazebo. No waterproofs for track use but I can shiver in the van

Normal road tyre's wouldn't put me off, see what the weather experts are saying Friday. You never know, the circuit might miss the rain.

Kip in van. 👍

I've raced at Pembrey in the wet a couple of times, it is a fucking miserable place to be, but the portion sizes in the club house are very generous.

The food is excellent but it's a long way to go for enough chips and pie to kill an elephant.

WoW's, empty track pretty much to yourself? No brainer as far as I'm concerned.

I had Almeria pretty much to myself many years back because of a bit of rain - only a few went out....

It might be fun one time, the first time you go out. You're nice and dry.

Then you get wet and once you are wet, you stay wet. Wet, cold, miserable. You're back in your cold, wet, wind torn tent wondering if you could even be any more soggy just as it starts really pissing it down.

It's a no from me.

In Ameria you will have a pleasant and dry garage.

A gazebo with rain blowing sideways isn't quite the same :)
