Because he is 2nd in the driver’s championship, would be stupid to fire him.

Obviously the real singer couldn't turn up, so they nipped down the local and picked up the pub singer/ elvis impersonator to help out.

Was very embarrassing. I always chuckle about how bad the singers/ musicians are at the F1, but the British GP has now joined that illustrious piss poor list

Because he's a good boy who will do what he's told by daddy Christian.

Although I think he knows its his last season and he no longer gives a fuck, RedBull will never hire a good #2, they can't risk another Vettel/Webber situation.

I thought he did a pretty good job with the anthem. Talk about “pressure”.

As for Sergio, he should be right up there with Max, taking the pressure off the team and challenging Max for the win once in a while.

Fair point about driver championship I guess but he needs to step up in the quali’s.

He's a reasonable No.2 driver. Though his qualifying needs to improve. Two good or brilliant drivers usually ends in tears and team embarrassment as they run each other off the track.

Much as I'd love see it happen, given the money/sponsors/politics involved as well as past history I can't see it ever happening.

I've not been following F1 that closely, but wasn't Checo pretty competitive early on in the season, especially at street circuits? So much so that Max was getting a bit grumpy about it. And haven't a lot of Checo's current woes stemmed from an inability to get into Q3 (or even Q2) due to a number of bad strategy calls?

I'd have thought Screwd would have picked up on this - it's his ballpark, Shirley? :D

It worked well enough with Prost/Senna and Hamilton/Rosberg, even when they were crashing into each other, the sponsor's were plastered all over the papers.

Sponsors are never happy when one of their mobile advertising hoardings takes out the other at the first corner...

Dunno, think about Prost/Senna and the first thing you see in your mind's eye are Marlboro painted McLarens. Even 35 years later.

True, but what sponsors want to see is 'their' car either a) winning or b) at least getting lots of 'free' airtime. Crashing out ignominiously doesn't really achieve that.

He is a very good driver (they all are) but he's basically midfield talent in a brilliant car. His job is to be a good number 2 and stay close to Max, pick up the odd win when available. It's not strategy that is making him fail in qualifying, it's intelligence. He isn't a smart driver.

To consistently fail to get the fastest car out there into Q3 is abysmal. Looks great when he can pick his way through the field from the back but that is testament to the superiority of the RB19.
