IIRC explicit pictures of under 18s are now illegal, came about a while after The Sun showed a 15 year old girl getting undressed each day before going topless on her 16th birthday.MyLittleStudPony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:02 pmI'm not saying it doesn't all sound a bit iffy. But IMO sending explicite pictures is < having full sex, which the the law says is ok.
I'm wary of pitchforking someone for something which may not have been be that bad. I don't know the details.
Do we know it's a 'he''? I haven't looked at the details really. Not that it should matter.

Think Labour plan on giving those over 16 the vote, plus legal foreign residents in the UK.
Personally I'd like to see proportional representation which might make Parliament less of a two horse race where I don't like either horse.

Proportional representation leads to you being governed by the lunatic fringe that nobody voted for.

I am inclined to agree. It's all too easy to get the pitchforks out without knowing thither the story or the motivations. Since this chap is a bit of a joker, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a (bad!) joke. Also we don't know yet the timescale or if we do, I'm not that inclined to go looking.MyLittleStudPony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:02 pm I'm not saying it doesn't all sound a bit iffy. It wasn't so long ago when there wasn't such a proliferation of electronic recording devices which, in the blink of an eye could potentially ruin your entire life. I sincerely doubt there's anyone on this planet who could claim they haven't done something they're glad isn't circulating ad infinitum on YouTube. Plus eventually, we grow up and learn from our mistakes.
Trial by social media is a relatively new phenomena which, coupled with a trail of permanent text, audio, video or photographic records to compile from, makes presenting a case for crucifixion all too easy. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Not everyone, that's what's trending. When I looked at the Norton Tweets 90% were claiming Twitter was homophobic for suggesting that but they were the ones making it trend!
For balance I found this odds list:
I’ll offer you 8/11 on Huw Edwards
Clive Myrie 10/3
Justin Webb, Emily Maitlis 9-2
Amol Rajan 4-1
Fiona Bruce, Kirsty Wark 12-1
George Alegayiah 33-1
Moira Stewart 100-1

What I don't understand is why the mother complained to the BBC and didn't immediately report this to the police.Ant wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 3:46 pm So, which BBC presenter is suddenly missing? I guess who ever watches/listens to what it is will know....

Giving the benefit of the doubt, it's possible she thought it was wrong, but not illegal, so would be a matter for the Beeb rather than police.Bike Breaker wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 9:56 am What I don't understand is why the mother complained to the BBC and didn't immediately report this to the police.
There's been a few comments on here expressing surprise, or incredulity, that it is illegal.

What I read today was she didn't get any money for the story, she was annoyed the BBC seemed to ignore her complaint. Twitter though so almost as unreliable as Wikipedia.

In all seriousness apart from the odd one, I would expect there's nobody in this forum for which the age of consent is relevant anymore.Kneerly Down wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 10:59 am Giving the benefit of the doubt, it's possible she thought it was wrong, but not illegal, so would be a matter for the Beeb rather than police.
