Quick Google Help Please????
I've just got off ferry on Fuertaventura and seen a strange warning light on dashboard.
The yellow sign on the left on photo.
Also showing "SD" in bottom right.
This morning battery was struggling so plugged in trickle charger for 10 mins and it fired up. Showing 14.4v when running and starts OK now.
It's so bright here it's hard to read the phone
Any of you able to use your Google Fu?
I'm reluctant to carry on. I'd rather get back to ferry port if big problems

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Quick Google seems to indicate an issue with the Steering Damper solenoid - (I'm probably looking at the same pages you are).
One of them is suggesting a low-voltage issue might be the cause - if the battery was low then it might be causing the error.
Given the battery has been charged and run a bit, do you know how to 'reset' the system? (I'm not expert on the systems, but the error code might be 'stuck' in the history?)

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Some here says start the biek 5 times?
https://www.gixxer.com/threads/check-en ... cc.841270/
Also : "when the front wheel speed is different from the rear wheel by a percentage it will throw error codes for the Steering Damper(sd) and the abs will error out as well.
a Dyno, wheelie, burnout will all cause this issue."
Have you been having fun this morning?

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
You could also try unplugging the connection and replugging it - could be a slight bit of corrosion causing a poor connection.

Malfunction Indicator Light “ ” B
If the fuel injection/traction control sys-
tem and/or the steering damper system
fails, the malfunction indicator light B
comes on and the multifunction display
H indicates “FI” or “SD” in the following
2 modes;
A. The multifunction display H alter-
nately indicates “FI” or “SD” and the
displayed mode reading, and the
malfunction indicator light B comes
on and remains lit. The engine may
continue to run in this mode. The
multifunction display H alternately
indicates “FI”, “SD” and the dis-
played mode reading when both the
fuel injection/traction control system
and steering damper system failed.
B. The multifunction display H indi-
cates “FI” or “SD” continuously and
the malfunction indicator light B
blinks. The engine will not run in this
mode.
NOTE: The indicator displays “FI” when
the fuel injection/traction control system
has a malfunction. The indicator dis-
plays “SD” when the steering damper
solenoid, battery voltage and speed
sensor have a malfunction.
3-22
NOTE: If the display indicates “FI” or
“SD” continuously and the malfunction
indicator light blinks, the engine will not
start.

Gonna get on ferry and check at home
I've also seen problems with switch under left fairing. Had that off yesterday.
Darent go any further

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
If it's not alternating between SD and FI then it's defo just the damper.
Maybe the voltage is too low for the steering damper, give it a ride, put some charge in the battery and see if it goes away.

Hope it's the simplest of the issue/solutions and the bike is ok.

Next ferry is half hour. Will be happier on our island.
Battery is showing 14.4v running.

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Check the charging system if it's a code / fault triggered by low voltage.
If it's showing 14.4 running that's good, just try & work out why the battery voltage was low enough to trigger the codes earlier.

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
The other thing about error codes is that they usually stay until cleared, or after a set number of engine starts.
It may be that whatever triggered the code isn't a problem anymore, but you won't know until the code is cleared and comes back or not.

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Apparently, from the manual,
"The LCD panel indicates “Sd” when the steering damper solenoid malfunction, battery abnormal voltage and speed sensor malfunction occurred".
If you've been lifting the front wheel then it could well trigger a speed sensor issue. Equally it could have been from the flattish battery this morning. A lot of people have had this because of reg/rect problems though. Keep an eye on your charge rate to avoid killing your battery.

The bike had been stood a few weeks and I'd started it a few times without running it to recharge.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 11:43 am Check the charging system if it's a code / fault triggered by low voltage.

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Thanks all for your help. My anxiety level went sky high.
I went to book ferry and next is 2:15.
So as I had calmed down I decided to go for my fave roads.
Just Google Betancuria to Pajara. Woo hoo.
Now at our fave cafe in Pajara. Will be heading south again to La Pared
Bike is performing really well and I feel great.
Now I know it's not an engine problem I can relax.
Insurance here will take my bike home if any problems

Re: Quick Google Help Please????
Nope.
And I realised that battery was flat this morning coz I'd had the alarm on for last few weeks.
