Pirelli replace Dunlop in Moto 2 ad Moto 3

Post by westers151 »

From 2024, and for a two year contract, Pirelli have got the nod.

It's not turning out to be a great period for Dunlop, what with the issues they're had on the roads for the last couple of years, and now this.

Blimey. That's a right kick in the bollox for Dunlop. I used solely Dunlops on track for 15 years

That will be 'interesting'. How long have Dunlop been the sole supplier to Moto2 and Moto3? It's been quite a while. A change of tyre supplier can have major ramifications for suspension setup and even frame design.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

That's what I was thinking. Bikes (frames, etc) are developed around tyres, so it'll be interesting to see who adapts the best.

That's a shame for my money Dunlops are a far superior tyre, at least the MS version's, I can get 3 days from a firm Dunlop (2 days then turn) Pirelli often goosed in a day. Also Pirelli grip drops off a cliff compared to Dunlop that grips well until the profile is clearly worn.
