This could be a big can of worms now open, it's been pretty obvious for years and widespread in government agencies.

Initiatives to increase the numbers of women and people from ethnic minorities in the RAF led to unlawful positive discrimination, an inquiry has found.
Kudos to the woman who blew the whistle.

I dunno, I don't see it as positive discrimination if it's excluded anyone, it's discrimination, period.

But still, it's nice to know that when you get served a plate of salty slop in the mess, it'll be tasteless food regardless of the colour of the chefs.

The RAF well and truly went bonkers after Steve Hillier retired.

Since, two junior non commissioned ranks have had to be renamed, due to diversity nonsense

So these French riots...

Seventeen year old Algerian kid driving a Mercedes AMG, needlessly shot dead for failing to stop for police.

My first thought was, damn that's harsh, followed by: what's a 17 year old kid doing driving around in a £100k car?

I can't find any of the back story in the "news".

Anybody know?

LOL. Yeah I guess so.

What's a seventeen year old from the Styx doing driving around in a £5k car?

Like similar British stories there probably is a lot more to it, however the French police's version of events was shown to be a lie by cctv.

My general attitude here is - if the Gendarmes ask/tell you to do something, JFDI cos, they have guns!!!

I'm always amazed in the winters when we get stuck in traffic, and it's mostly because the gendarmes are telling people to go back onto the motorway to keep the back roads clear for emergency vehicles, just how many people will sit in their cars and argue with a man with a gun that is telling them to go in a direction that they don't want to go!!

It's also apparently not that uncommon for people to get shot during traffic stops! Eek.

One has to assume this young lad was involved in some sort of criminal activity, beyond merely not having a license. Whose car was it? How was it obtained? What were they doing in it? Was that activity part of an organised crime?

So many questions, so few answers. If we had ALL of the unredacted information, it might be easier to form an opinion regarding what appears on the face of it to be excessive force. It's possible for example this is part of a car theft ring and people are being killed/injured during those thefts. It might be drug running or people smuggling or just run of the mill burglary etc.

I am not suggesting that excuses a police force for shooting someone dead but it would place such scenarios in context. How many of these sorts of stops end up with the crims successfully evading capture? How much of a crime problem are they dealing with?

More than anything though, I find it depressing that obviously pertinent information is left out of the news which leaves such a glaring hole in the story you end up with crowds of people rioting (and looting) in the name of some poor innocent boy.

In the UK your standard bobby / traffic-policeman comes across as a benign thicko (sorry about that).
In France your standard flic / traffic-policeman comes across as an officious, miserable (and armed) bellend (sorry about that).

I'm not sure I have a preference but guns do somewhat focus the mind of joe public. You're certainly going to give less lip to the armed ones.

It costs a £million for a 21 yo to insure an Aygo in Norn Iron. How did you manage that?

Or….

OK.

A lot of French (that I've seen in queues) seem to think that they don't have to worry about the guns and definitely give a lot of lip!!! :o

No, that would be a 24V Cosworth. Units named after people are capitalised.

Biden pissed the SCOTUS told him his student loan forgiveness plan wasn't going to fly because it's unconstitutional... which is EXACTLY what Biden said last year & Pelosi said there wasn't a chance it hell it would pass Congress when the Democrats were running the show...

But now "it's all Trumps fault"
