Martini is the best cocktail. 4/5ths gin, ice, twist of lime, show the glass the martini bottle and top up with more gin. Stir.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:14 pmLong Island Ice Tea is the bestest cocktail. Espresso Martini is a close second if you're a girl.

Today I was offered my very first MRI scan, it'd be rude to not see my tax money in action.

I pay for everything using Google contactless on my phone....to the point I often don't take my wallet out or even know where it is. The bank actually recommend using it over your card cause its more secure.
Works on the tube and busses. Loads of car parks accept it at the entry/exit barrier too so you don't need to get a ticket.

I'll take my chances with a bank card, they'll be easier to deal with if you need to dispute a transaction.

Re: First Time Ever
The transactions are still with your bank. Google just act as a middle man to send a 'fake' account when you pay. The idea is that you never share your real bank details with merchants.cheb wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 7:45 amMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:41 pm I pay for everything using Google contactless on my phone....to the point I often don't take my wallet out or even know where it is. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've only had one dodgy transaction in my life. And that was on an account that is not associated with Google.

I use Apple Pay on my phone a LOT. So much easier, and no stupid £45 limit, bar at Tesco for some bizarre reason so I no longer shop there.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:41 pm I pay for everything using Google contactless on my phone....to the point I often don't take my wallet out or even know where it is. Just another link in the chain to be compromised then.
I rarely go out with without at least two methods of payment, and that's just locally. Off island there's even more back up.
The latter proved useful when my current account was fraudulently emptied when on holiday. I'm convinced it was an inside job, emptied right up the OD limit in three transactions, all to one online bookie. The money was returned next day by the bank. And then also by the bookie. The second refund was transferred to a high interest account until the noticed, about a year later.

Re: First Time Ever
Its funny what people are paranoid about. I like only having my phone cause there's less chance of physically losing my cards / cash...
Other people like having 'real' money for the same reason.

I'm 55. I've not lost a bank card, phone, bunch of keys, documentation and the like since I became an adult. I'll confess to forgetting my wallet when I went shopping a few weeks ago, that's because I put on the wrong boiler suit as I went out.
For those who wonder why I wear a boiler suit to go shopping, it covers up all the undesigned holes in my other clothes.
