A New Idea. Exciting.

Post by Yorick »

There's a race track over on Gran Canaria but they didn't do trackdays as such.
But now it's changed. Just had a reply to my email.
Hire the track. Minimum 10 riders.
70€ each.
9:30 - 12:30.
Open pit lane.

And they said they can fit 1 person into another planned day.

Gonna ask the lads, but I'm going.
Hopefully they'll follow later.

Watch this space.

That's very cheap, do you get marshalls etc for that, not that I'd care, I'd be happy to ride without marshalls and an ambulance.

Riding without them? Fine

Crashing, though, not so fine ;)

I went to watch once and was pretty basic.
Hospital is close and I have great private health cover

In 35 years track riding, only had one major incident.
So not too worried

Then don't crash, I bet you do 1000s of miles every year without crashing

That’s a good deal.

It sounds like a return to the ride up to the track, have some fun and ride home again days before everyone had track bikes, vans and tyre warmers.

Cycled 8 miles.

The fitness regime has started :)

Sent off an email asking when they can fit me in. Got a call earlier to tell me this Saturday was free, but the missus works Fridays.

So he's gonna try to fit me in another one soon. Woo hoo !!!

I'm so excited, this morning's usual 4 mile walk along the sea front was faster than normal so I could get home sooner to sort this. And another idea that has been brewing for a bit ;)

Just fired a few emails off to some of my old instructing contacts ;)

My anxiety levels are sky high today.
The riding doesn't even worry me.

It's the getting everything ready and packed and not forgetting anything.

I had it all sorted in UK when I had camper.

It'll be reet :)

Everybody else is on dedicated track bikes with warmers.
Only about 10 here. That's a normal day.

All in all a great day. Unleashing 200 gee gees and feeling it lift in 2nd and 3rd every lap is ace. Proper grinning.

Some fast kids on tricked up litre track bikes.
Mine was standard road bike and double their age.
Speeds crept up over the day.
Usually metronomic but the hairpins were a bit Micky Mouse so hard to get consistent lines.
Knee down on half the corners, so doing summat right ;)

Only prob was no grip on soles of boots. I use my feet a lot to steer and balance my body.

Track 6/10
My riding 7/10
Grin factor 126/10

Was lovely having Pen there keeping my hydrated and keeping me calm

I'll be booking Portimao and Jerez later this week.

Less of the old ;)

I've got the buzz in my head that's not been there for 8 years.

Enduro is giving me amazing times.

But no reason I can't have both :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Look at the state of that chain :)

Dude, you're like 70. If you were wine we'd have binned you years ago, if you were a horse you'd be glue.

You're old 😂

But having fun, which is the best thing
