Re: Assen MotoGP
It's that simple - he closed right up behind a slow Bastianini, way off the line, and wasn't looking where he was going.

In due fairness he accepted full blame.

Re: Assen MotoGP
Thank you. For the inexperienced, watching it looked like everyone was going fast then Bastianini slowed which meant that MM (being very close) didn't have anywhere to go.
Tis why I asked, cos I knew you guys would be able explain it!!

Re: Assen MotoGP
I'm still baffled why Acosta wasn't given a second long lap penalty for messing up the first.
Commentators mentioned a few teams had put in complaints

Re: Assen MotoGP
I was a bit gutted for Binder. I know that it's track limits, so not making excuses, but must have been gutting to lose third place due to cutting that corner by a smidge

Re: Assen MotoGP
Yeah I saw that - it was a plain as day infringement. Are we seeing the rise of a new 'golden child' that the stewards tiptoe around?

Re: Assen MotoGP
I think he'll get 3 second penalty in the next few days, but the original long lap penalty was harsh, he clearly lost a ton of time when the front end let go, it was one hell of a save, he can certainly ride a bike.Yorick wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 7:02 pmRival teams won't let it lie.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 6:51 pmYeah I saw that - it was a plain as day infringement. Re: Assen MotoGP
They have live timing and if he cuts a corner for any reason, he has to slow a bit and lose time. It's a second I think.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:59 pmI think he'll get 3 second penalty in the next few days, but the original long lap penalty was harsh, he clearly lost a ton of time when the front end let go, it was one hell of a save, he can certainly ride a bike.Yorick wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 7:02 pmRival teams won't let it lie.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 6:51 pm

They all know this and not hard to do.
He didn't and the clock doesn't lie.
This is a black and white rule.

Re: Assen MotoGP
I saw that story elsewhere and a complete load of bollocks for "no decisive proof" as they must have watched a different tv feed than the rest of the world .....pathetic and inconsistent yet again.Yorick wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:43 pmThe stewards bottled itmangocrazy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 6:51 pmYeah I saw that - it was a plain as day infringement. Seems to be the biggest thing now with the stewards that penalties are thrown but there is a lack of any consistency. Binder goes on the green and his 3 second penalty loses him places...... Martin behind him also goes on the green but doesnt get a 3 second penalty as the gap behind was over 10 seconds

I loved Fast Freddie but he's changed. He thinks he's more important than the race and racers.

Re: Assen MotoGP
Crash Net has quite a revealing chat with Alberto Puig, here:
https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/10299 ... -not-happy
Reading between the lines, it seems that the race team know pretty much what they need, but HRC in Japan is either dragging its heels or doesn't realise the seriousness of the situation, or simply doesn't have the answers. Puig also indicates that MM is not just physically damaged, but his head is not in the right place either. To be fair, this was pretty obvious to anyone watching him at Assen.
It's no coincidence that both Japanese factories are lagging so far behind the other teams. They simply don't have the rapid prototyping and turnround capability that the European teams do.
It's got so bad that Dorna are talking about changing the concessions regime to help the Japanese factories back to parity. How embarassing must that be for a country and culture that hates losing face above all else?
