Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
Human remains were discovered by hikers on Mount Baldy Saturday morning.
At around 10 a.m., hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station after coming across the remains in the Mount Baldy Wilderness Area.
Deputies along with the sheriff’s Emergency Operations Division responded to the scene.
The remains were transported to the coroner’s office where officials are working to identify the body.
Authorities said positive identification is expected next week. No further details were released.
Back in January, search efforts were underway when two hikers went missing in Mount Baldy including British actor Julian Sands, 65. Two other hikers were also found dead in the area before Sands went missing.

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
Did make me wonder whether they'd turned his mic volume down to hide his fading vocals. Maybe not helped by the fact that he seemed to be running from start to finish of the set.
Slash was great though.

I thought they sounded like a cross between Heavy Metal and Flamenco

I thought it was a sound problem aswel, but he did get there now and against. But the effort he puts in on stage is great.
Slash is possibly the best guitarist I've seen on tv or anywhere else for that matter. 3hrs aswel better than that shower on shite the night before.
Reckon Elton will do a good show tonight, with or without Dave Grohl.

They always did have a taste for some flamboyant stuff, mostly down to Axl, although he's actually quite a handy pianist. Vocally he's a pub singer now I always thought of Velvet Revolver as being the band GnR should have been.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 10:40 am I thought they sounded like a cross between Heavy Metal and Flamenco
Slash is definitely amongst the guitar legends, he's right up with the likes of Brian May, EvH, Prince and Lindsey Buckingham.

And after all that playing still managed a handstand leaving the stage! Legend.
I'm looking forward to Elton too

Without doubt Slash can play a guitar, but I'd much rather listen to something a lot less "twiddly"Bigjawa wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 11:03 amThey always did have a taste for some flamboyant stuff, mostly down to Axl, although he's actually quite a handy pianist. He does TV commercials these days:
Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
I've just got in from a weekend away so catching up on some Glasto TV. And yeah, Axl Rose was appalling. I mean, he's 61 and everything but Elton John is 76 and doing a far better job of singing.

I was flicking back n forth to Glasto, and most of the acts I saw had a crappy vocal set up

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
Thought Elton did a decent job, crowd involvement and all that, he is 76. But overall, I think it was one of the worst Glastonburys I can remember, from a home watcher pov.

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
Glastonbury could have it's own thread called "340 quid for that pile of shite?"
Thank god for I-player though, they've actually put up some not bad stuff without the hassle of actually having to go. Going to watch the Sparks set later and the Rick Astley sets were really quite good, especially where he did a set of Smiths songs with some band called The Blossoms (I'm old)
Only one I haven't found so far that might have been good was Max Richter, a bit of culture n'that

I lived near the site all my childhood (and some adulthood) and for a few years we lived 'next door' to it. My bro and sis loved it, but I just never got into it.darthpunk wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 9:32 am Glastonbury could have it's own thread called "340 quid for that pile of shite?"

The free entry on sunday afternoons I used to go to sometimes if the bands playing were interesting. But for me the headlines were rarely people I wanted to see and in my experience, walking on the site meant that everyone was 8 foot tall and going in the opposite direction to me, so I hated that (not good in crowds!). So the inclination to walk to the smaller stages was lost!
I spent a lot of years going to see live bands locally on a regular basis so couldn't justify camping somewhere like Glasto, paying a bloody fortune to try and walk through thousands of people etc.
A few years ago a mate texted me from there saying "you should be here, we're at the most amazing stage watching some awesome rockabillly" - I went and watched awesome rockabilly pretty much ever yweekend, and didn't have to pay an entry fee for most of them! Even when I did a weekender, it certainly wasn't 300+ quid for a weekend of awesome bands - and we stayed in proper beds, not tents!!!

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
It would make quite a good round on 'Pointless':
Name a performer or band (with at least one member still alive) that hasn't played Glastonbury.
Significant chunks of it are getting more and more like a séance every year. (Probably true of many festivals though).
(Apparently the industry body representing festival organisers - the AFO - is lobbying for financial support because they perform services essential to wellbeing or summat. They should contact Help the Aged ).

Alan Arkin. You may not know his name, but you've seen him in something...
