Mate took some of his work colleagues out for a ride yesterday , it didn't end well.

I've looked at this a few times (kinda from behind a cushion - I'm ok with injuries IRL, but phots are a bit yucky!) - what happened to get the bar end into a leg? I'm not even sure if it's a bike or a cycle? (Sorry, not very clued up on this stuff and bikes seem to get where cycles do now!!)

Either way, DAMN!! hope nothing essential was hit

I lost the bar plug on my race Ducati and didn't notice before I took it for scrutineering. He told me off for the missing plug. I asked why it was so important and it was very unlikely that you'd get a finger stuck in it in a crash. He then explained it was because it's a 'coring' issue... as displayed in the pictures above.

The Tweenager had just ridden a bombhole and as he came out of it, proper dead sailored as he jumped out of the exit and washed out on landing, the video looks like a really mild crash which it would’ve been if bar ends were fitted.

Lucky it wasn’t a bit higher and inside as it would’ve hit the femoral artery and he’d have been dead before anyone had run over to him.

I’ve seen the results of someone attempting to fare evade and cocking up jumping an old Victorian railway fence with 4 inch spikes on the top and puncturing his inner thigh near the groin, the amount of blood was horrendous and even the ambo crew looked very concerned as they turned up which is why I’m a bit twitchy about injuries like that.

I've read Hannibal and I agree with you. Glad the guy's ok.

I also had a bit of a bad experience with a bicycle handlebar with no grip-end when I was about 12, poked itself a bit between the ribs & still have a scar from it.

Nasty. Given response times, he was lucky to survive.

Despite what we might expect, crews don't experience that level of injury too often.
