Are "Casual Boots" actually any good?

TBF, I have ridden in Stiletto Boots before. Only if in town and so not fast or far. But it was the only time I ever got my whole 'foot', ok boot, flat on the floor! The 3.5inch heel definitely mean my foot 'felt' flat to the floor !!

I did see some of the MC boots have a nifty pocket to stash the laces in, might be worth it just for that

Even though I tucked in my laces, I was still scared they'd catch on something and make me fall off when I stopped!!

I usually wear my boots inside my kevlar jeans,but when wearing leathers,it's boots outside. I've had the reverse problem of snagging laces,when my foot was down the footrest hero blob caught inside the top of the boot,which meant I couldn't lift my leg up. A nuisance,but definitely preferable to not being able to put a foot down.

I tuck the laces under the Velcro strap...

Is there any reason you'd buy "biking" boots over just decent normal boots?

A motorcycling boot’s sole should be reinforced to resist crushing, whereas normal boots don’t usually have this reinforcement inside their soles.

Those various lace free systems always make me think of children's shoes Same goes for Snowboard boots.

(The local pest control chaps have 'work trainers' like that. They say they have to get their footwear on and off so often they save hours every week. )

It's one of the 3 reasons I plumped for them, the previous booties have traditional laces and a velcro flap. The laces always manage to wriggle free then flap about trying to hook the brake or gear lever.
These can also be done up with gloves on
All my other gear is furygan and I'm a tart!

It took me a while to see if it conformed to 'righty-tighty, lefty-loosey' or not.

Even that is sometimes not enough. I slipped over on a wet and diesel soaked French forecourt, and the VFR landed on my foot, in proper bike boots. Next day I discovered I had 3 broken metatarsels. Trainers would have been even more painful.
