Where and when ?
I’ve lost my imagination with my motorbike rides, I’ve got the new Africa twin and my NC30 to use. I don’t get a lot of spare time but do get several evenings and most Saturdays till mid afternoon, the rest is family time. Every time I go into the garage I take the mountain bike, within minutes from home I’m on the trails. I can’t begin to imagine taking either motorbike, firstly there’s putting on the gear I don’t want to wear, then where do I go, I want to enjoy a ride without thought for breaking any laws. The roads for this aren’t 2 mins away. Have I got the wrong bikes, or just accept I prefer the ease of the mtb with no consequences if I ride like I want. I see Docca with his Harley and wonder if something like that is an answer, a bike that’s ridden for riding sake ? Who knows or cares ?

Re: Where and when ?
Just ride the MTB,I went through a phase from 2003 to 2017 where my motorbikes hardly got used as I spent most of my leisure time out on the MTB.
One year the XT600 only did 67 miles between MOT's.
I never sold my bikes as I knew I would get back to them at some point, that was 2017 when I took a sabatical from work & had more time, plus in 2015 after returning from Les Arcs with whiplash & pretty beaten up I realised that the MTB's were taking their toll on me so I got back into motorbikes.
Now I CBA loading the MTB in the car so I ride the road bike from the door & it's the MTB's turn to gather dust...

Do what you want to do, it doesn't matter if you have a bike in the garage doing nothing, it's your garage and your money.

Re: Where and when ?
Biggest hoot I've had in recent years was my YZF-R125. A 6'1, 120kg bloke thrashing the absolute shite out of this tiny race rep.
Broke my heart to sell it.

Re: Where and when ?
Get a Harley. You'll start off with a love-hate relationship and only one of these emotions will win and you'll know which one fairly quickly! I think you'd get a Harley though. You've had a lot of experience of most types of bikes and I think you'd see it for what it was.
A Yank that used to be on the Sportster forum had a Ducati he raced and a tricked out HD48 he rode for fun and loved both equally. Yanks seem to be able to do that, see the different bikes for what they are, whereas most Brits just compare them and hate the Harley for it.

What we want to do changes over time, the only answer is to do what we want at the time and don't worry about it.

Re: Where and when ?
I'm not sure i even need to answer, most will have seen my posts... but simply, motorbikes don't really exist in my world/life now. I'm cool with it, i get more 'release' from MTB than i do on motorbikes..

Sounds to me like you prefer doing stuff other than motorcycling,so do it. 'Taint no thing, just sell them and move on.Couchy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 4:37 pm I’ve lost my imagination with my motorbike rides, I’ve got the new Africa twin and my NC30 to use. Bikes remain a string to your bow,you can always buy another when you get bored with pedal bikes. Or not.

Re: Where and when ?
It’s an odd one, I’m not overly concerned I’m still on two wheels and still getting a kick out of it which is all that matters. I used to think it was motorbikes I was into but I now think it’s the adrenalin hit and preferably on two wheels. But there’s no rules so let’s see what the next year brings. Anyone want an 1100 Africa twin dct that’s done 800 milesSkub wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:49 pmSounds to me like you prefer doing stuff other than motorcycling,so do it. Re: Where and when ?
It should be my ideal bike, big, comfy and DCT, but something about them doesn't work for me? I should probably see one IRL.

Re: Where and when ?
I moved. I have mountain bike tracks 25 metres from my front door. Also I can ride off road bikes there to (looking to buy a non knackered trials bike at the moment, as the Himalayan can't cope with some tracks). The twisty mountain roads are a ten minute ride away, and there are plenty of beautiful cities to ride to with 4 hours.
I have never done so much leisure riding as I do now. Not because of the time I have available, but because the terrain is there.
