It looked pretty much brand new, no idea how to age stuff on spic plates, or even if you can.

I don't usually get very excited about old bikes (don't go, don't stop, drop more oil than a Gulf state etc etc) but I have to say I thought this one interesting enough to do a bit of reading. 1938, IL 4 cylinder 750cc, OHV and OHC, lots of them still in use. I think it's rather lovely.

It just made me smile, it looks so damn neat and, well, 'perky'.

Apart from images on the web or in magazines I've only ever seen a Nimbus at the Classic TT.
It's the kind of bike you get at that meeting, but I still did a double take when I saw it.
Not the only old bike I saw for the first time over there

Re: interesting bikes found randomly..
I was looking at MY1978 bikes on t'bay and spotted this...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334891312971
I'd get rid of the chequered flag and paint it all black, then put the right length bolts in the screen.... not that I've got £8k to buy it.

You can import bikes here, a couple of dealers near me get bikes in from the USA. Getting bikes in from other parts of Europe is quite easy, seeing as they are built for EU countries. As long as they are standard, its straightforward to get an ITV and registered. My Belgian neighbour has just done so with his Burgman.
In Spain you can, well roughly. Pre 2000 the 1st letter on the plate shows which area it was registered in, and you can find the details easily enough through various websites.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 1:52 pm It looked pretty much brand new, no idea how to age stuff on spic plates, or even if you can.
From 2000, there was a system of 4 numbers and 3 letters. No vowels are used, so a 2000 plate is eg 1234 BDC.
Every few years, the next letter alpabetically is released. In Feb or March this year, 'M' was set as the first letter.
The four numbers and two end letters are randomly selected, they don't represent regions.
TL:DR In Spain, partly.

Re: interesting bikes found randomly..
Took the Enfield for an MOT, the tester Jeff didn't have enough fuel in his Vellocette and didn't fancy his new Z650RS, so came to work on his big Zed...
