Custom Cubs
Some nice ones on t'bay at the moment. If you like that sort of thing.

I'm less sure about these two:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325681222934
And this one is a 'no' for me
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266291132549
I wonder what they ride like? I last rode a C70 in 1988 and it was an on condition standard one. I imagine 40 odd years and 'customisation' won't make them ride any better. And a lot have Chinese engines in which would put me off because I don't think they'd be as well build as Honda ones. And would a middle aged man riding one round town look a right twat? I suspect so.
I'm very tempted.

Still one of my favourite ever jobs; riding the Domino's C90
Got it up to 60 once, no lie! Maybe a hill involved.

Re: Custom Cubs
First one looks really nice. Not sure I’d sink 2500 in to one but would be a nice toy to have.

Re: Custom Cubs
Oddly, despite their massive Worldwide sales, the C50/70/90 was never sold in Spain.
Only ever seen one here, and that was a customised one, near Valencia.

Re: Custom Cubs
Pah, its just not the same as nipling over to Ridley Road and buying a steppy 90 "Fieldbike" off Wildman Kipper for 60 or so quid.
Think Musky bought a clean Steppy 50 "with papers" for £130.
Think Kipper died of a smack overdose years later but at the time he was working in Normans bike breakers on West Walls so he got cheap bikes when the owner didnt want or have funds for a bike that came in.

Re: Custom Cubs
So, 16 bhp then?
The Chinese engines are OK in these, I've seen a few with 140cc 4speeds and normal clutches that go well enough. Most Cub engines died through lack of oil and over revving, so the bigger Chinese ones can pull higher gearing at lower revs. They don't have the jewel like feeling of the OE engines.
To me, the Cub is the undisputed GOAT of Motorcycles. it gave mobility to entire continents.

Re: Custom Cubs
I'd considered one of these for pissing about up and down to the beach (or, more likely given my locale, a caffed up mobylette 103) but I've considered it too long, something electric is probably far more likely now.

Re: Custom Cubs
I had two velosolexes from Holland...unregisterable there....sold one with no mot and took the other one in for an mot. Riding up the Pershpre rd in Brum at 18 mph was scarier than the le on the m5 at 55......
