I honestly think he doesn't know right from wrong. He lies constantly but doesn't see that at wrong.
He made a big thing about birthday cakes and wine at work being good.
But folk couldn't visit their dying family members in hospital.
He can't see the problem, so there isn't one.

Re: Here we go again...
Are there many workplaces now where - because it's been really stressful - the staff bring in carrier bags full of booze, crank up the karaoke, chunder over the furniture and harangue security staff?
I would be genuinely interested to hear of anywhere that considers that completely acceptable.
Even having drink on the premises, for a short birthday celebration, is unlikely, I would have thought.
Even bland can be a type of character

It probably depends, but where I am (healthcare) it's a no-no on the premises. 20 years ago, yes. 35 years ago you could smoke at your desk and tweak the secretaries nipples after.Horse wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 4:53 pmAre there many workplaces now where - because it's been really stressful - the staff bring in carrier bags full of booze, crank up the karaoke, chunder over the furniture and harangue security staff?

And when I say 'it depends', it depends whether you're the boss and could give a fvck.

I thought this was going to be about the Stakka Bo song.
Although now it's on the table, does anyone have any thoughts on new wave Scandinavian jazz-rap?

Here's Martyn Turner cartoon from yesterday's Irish Times -

Re: Here we go again...
He's been fitted up by the conspiring MPs who are bitter over his legacy, record majority, ability to get the voters out. The people voted him in and his own cabinet and other ministers shafted him. Sunak is riding the waves of Johnson's majority when he is one of the ones who shafted him.Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 3:09 pmNot what actually did the damage. The report criticises him and they would have suspended him (unanimously on a committee with a majority of his own party on) for:
1. Deliberately misleading the Commons.
2. Deliberately misleading the privileges committee.
3. Breaching confidence (by leaking part of the report in advance).
4. “Impugning” the committee, and thus parliamentary processes.
5. Complicity in a “campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the committee”.
Basically, lying and trashing parliamentary procedures, not 'the cake'.
The committee is not fit for purpose, led by a Labour MP and has other members who also broke the rules.
All this over a slice of cake? No one batted an eye lid when Blair's misleading of Parliament led to a massive refugee crisis after the death of thousands by war.

You could be right
It will be interesting to see, for the vote, how many Conservative MPs:
- turn up to support him
- vote against him
- have urgent business elsewhere

I'm pretty sure my view of his 'legacy' is the commonly held one.
And I'm pretty sure 'riding the wave' is the same one bitched over about brown/Blair.
Hello Nadine Dorries.

I think it's grand sport to see the Tory party entering into a period of civil war when a General Election is on the horizon.

Covid back in the news. Now reported that the first people to catch it all worked at the Wuhan lab...Fauci could be in a spot of bother over this as he already got busted for lying about the US funding gain of function there...

The Daily Mail is awful innit? I guessed they'd score badly, but they score really badly Seems we should be getting our news from The Smithsonian Magazine, but I imagine they cover quite a narrow range of topics.

That photo of them at 'gatherings', they're at work, who calls being at work a 'party'. Even the surprise birthday cake, it was a surprise, suggests he didn't know about it happening until he realised it was there.Lutin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:11 am If anyone is interested the full PartyGate report is here - Privileges Committee Report

Re: Here we go again...
I know this will come as a shock to you, but the privileges committee were less concerned about whether Johnson ate cake, but were instead concerned whether he misled (i.e. lied to) Parliament. Eating cake does not carry a penalty, a Prime Minister lying to Parliament most certainly does.Ant wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:21 amThat photo of them at 'gatherings', they're at work, who calls being at work a 'party'.
