I was never that lucky as most of my bikes end up staying with me till at least 40,000 miles, most 50-60,000 miles so chains get replaced more than once

So many people do that...Bigyin wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 6:27 pm I use the Motul chain cleaner and a 3 sided brush then Motul Road chain lube although I do have some Motul Race lube as well.
But of a change from years ago as a yoof when I kept just lobbing lube on top of lube and grime and wondered why chains didn’t last as long as other people’s
I remember from the 'old days' someone posting about his knackered chain which had run out of adjustment on his brand new CB500S... I think he got a couple of thousand miles out of it. Turned out he was cleaning it was Mr Sheen furniture police and adjusting it every ride. It was like a bowstring.

Re: Chain Cleaning
In a vaguely related misuse of 'lubricants' story. As a yoof, one of my Lambretta riding acquaintances, 'Roger Nice but Dim' lubed his rear shock with Squeezy based on his logic that it was 'slippy stuff'. You just have to hope that people like that are never in jobs where they can do damage and that no-one ever gives them anything sharp. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:54 pmROFLCount Steer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:24 pm Allo, allo, allo...drunk in charge of a sideboard?
