I was never that lucky as most of my bikes end up staying with me till at least 40,000 miles, most 50-60,000 miles so chains get replaced more than once ;)

So many people do that...

I remember from the 'old days' someone posting about his knackered chain which had run out of adjustment on his brand new CB500S... I think he got a couple of thousand miles out of it. Turned out he was cleaning it was Mr Sheen furniture police and adjusting it every ride. It was like a bowstring.

:D In a vaguely related misuse of 'lubricants' story. As a yoof, one of my Lambretta riding acquaintances, 'Roger Nice but Dim' lubed his rear shock with Squeezy based on his logic that it was 'slippy stuff'. You just have to hope that people like that are never in jobs where they can do damage and that no-one ever gives them anything sharp. :lol:
