Who's getting the McAms ride?
Seems like there's a highly prized seat vacancy at McAms Yamaha, who's going to get the gig?

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
Interesting that there is no stand out name for the ride jumping up as its mid season and everyone is under contract. I was hugely surprised when Neave got the ride in the first place and believed he would struggle to live up to it but to step away mid season took a lot on his part as well as its clobbered his future as well.
There is nobody i see in the BSB series they would step up but why not bring someone from Superstock. The safe bet would be a Linfoot or Hillier till the end of the season...... a brave bet would be a Franco Bourne who has come in as a rookie and impressed against the big names in Superstock already
I think Tom Booth Amos has his flag tied fairly firmly to the Kawasaki mast at the moment but you never know

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
Linfoot, been there tried, not good enough.
Hillier, too old, too safe.
Youngsters are where it's at. Get them in and hungry. Although BSB doesn't seem to do that well. Think of Ray, Skinner etc. Riders you'd think would come in and fly. But bsb is an old man's game it seems
Taz was the exception, Ray maybe but then went to a fucking stupid wsb ride and fucked himself.

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
I agree completely ....i put Linfoot and Hillier as a safe set of hands to keep sponsors happy and have 2 bikes with the colours upright and on telly coverage for the rest of the season.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 9:38 pm Linfoot, been there tried, not good enough.

I think a Franco Bourne would be interesting to see if he can deal with the added power and TBA would be a cracking choice as he isnt scared to mix it with bigger names as he has shown on the world scene but is an unknown quantity on anything bigger than a 600 as far as i know.
@Skub i think Mar Train would be a bit fucked off to have Kennedy poached as they built their team around him coming from the 600 class into BSB and i doubt Jack would leave them

Johnny Garness. Nab him when he's fit and tell him to lie about his age.

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
We did it with Danny Webb when he was 13 and his first ride on a RS125 superteen bike at the end of the season meeting. Started back of the grid as he had to be held upright .....finished on the podium
If Lee Johnston hadnt spannered himself at the North West he could have been an ideal replacement till season end as he wasnt tied into a big bike contract and the roads season would have been over already

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
Franco Bourne is on a 1000 this year and has podium’d already. The speed he’s shown straight away on the sstk 1000 is impressive. One of the lads on the other forum is his crew chief and says he’s very level headed. Could be a good idea as it would be with no pressure for himBigyin wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 9:47 pmI agree completely ....i put Linfoot and Hillier as a safe set of hands to keep sponsors happy and have 2 bikes with the colours upright and on telly coverage for the rest of the season.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 9:38 pm Linfoot, been there tried, not good enough.

You were right, just been announced that Franco makes his BSB debut on the factory Honda teamBustaspoke wrote:I think Franco will be favourite to climb onto Andy Irwins Honda
And McAms opt for Tito Rabat on the Tim Neave Yamaha….. strange choice as he didn’t exactly set the BSB field alight on his last foray into the paddock but I guess the big name gets them some pr coverage

Re: Who's getting the McAms ride?
I posted about Rabbat the other day,I think he' made it difficult for himself last time, riding Thruxton then going to Cadwell.Bigyin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 9:35 amYou were right, just been announced that Franco makes his BSB debut on the factory Honda teamBustaspoke wrote:I think Franco will be favourite to climb onto Andy Irwins Honda

Thruxton's unique by any measure & Cadwell's just about the polar opposite of a Moto GP track.Snetterton's one of the more straightforward tracks, plus he has the support & experience of one of the top teams.Brands Hatch might be an eyeopener though...
