Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
I'm guessing other than the MV there is nothing left in that segment. The Triumph is a naked so that's out.
Swapping my 46 year old hat for a 26 year old hat I reckon I'd be interested in a ZX6. That website says £10,500 which is £1,500 more than a Yamaha R7 which would be absolutely rinsed by the ZX6. It also provides a full on sportsbike for £10k mark rather than the £16k+ of most of the litre bikes. There's a potential for young uns to want them I reckon. I still see a lot of sportsbikes out in Essex.

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
apart from the bit Couchie will complain about which is 'full' electronics, there's nothing to not like really...
But arguably it doesn't give a lot over say a 2015 ZX6R.... I'm not even convinced it gives a heck of a lot more than the wifes 2010.
But i do like it

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
I imagine the Kawasaki bean counters have decided that sales will make up for the cost of euro standard homologation.
I guess they've been selling that exact bike, only without the Euro gubbins in other regions.

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
Doesn't really need to. The progressive changes from the 1990s 600s to the final crop arguably made the bikes less 'streetable' at the same times as they improved their track performance. The 636 was too big for WSS and developed to return some road rideability to the class.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 8:34 am apart from the bit Couchie will complain about which is 'full' electronics, there's nothing to not like really...

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
I'm also thinking Kawasaki have a clear IL4 screamer route from just past test to ZX10. I know we don't get the 250 but in some countries I bet it's popular and learners can do the full 250 - 400 - 600 - 1000 thing all with Kawasaki. Everyone else only makes shopping twins/singles up to 600cc.

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
Not a terrible thing though, right? And you can't blame them given how much it's probably cost to get the engine through emissions.
If you compare it to a cbr650, the Honda looks very, very bland with its steel frame and 80-odd horsepower.

Aye, i'm not arguing at all.... I like them as they are, well, in the context of it being a Japanese IL4 lol

I imagine you can probably also strangle and engine quite a lot for emissions and no-one will notice, assuming you're the only bike of this type in the market.

And you can bet your life all the huge exhausts with cats will be off before the bike leaves the shop and the remapping will take place shortly after.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:20 pm I imagine you can probably also strangle and engine quite a lot for emissions and no-one will notice, assuming you're the only bike of this type in the market.

My current GSXR came out of the shop with a free Yoshi can and original in a big box. The reports from America suggest it's fairly welcoming to an exhaust & remap.Bigjawa wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 7:14 pmAnd you can bet your life all the huge exhausts with cats will be off before the bike leaves the shop and the remapping will take place shortly after.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:20 pm I imagine you can probably also strangle and engine quite a lot for emissions and no-one will notice, assuming you're the only bike of this type in the market.

ACEM have just announced an agreement with a number of major manufacturers to fit tamper-proof baffles to homologated exhausts.

I'm not talking about decatting the OE pipe, I'm talking about ditching it altogether, if it can be unbolted, it'll be replaced. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 10:29 pmNot for much longer.Bigjawa wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 7:14 pmAnd you can bet your life all the huge exhausts with cats will be off before the bike leaves the shop and the remapping will take place shortly after.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:20 pm I imagine you can probably also strangle and engine quite a lot for emissions and no-one will notice, assuming you're the only bike of this type in the market.

Re: Kawasaki Screamers...
The announcement from ACEM last week indicated that the homologated replacement exhausts will be made tamper-proof so you can't fit an outwardly legal-looking system and remove the dB killer or grind out the welds securing the baffle. Construction will be so that removing the baffle requires destruction of the silencer.
That's what I meant by an agreement with the EXHAUST manufacturers, I should have specified aftermarket and not the OE manufacturer.
There will still be manufacturers of non-approved race exhausts, I'm sure but it'll be easier to monitor.

Homologated is the key word right.
How many noisey aftermarket zorsts achieve that?

Plenty. It's the rider removing the baffle that makes them noisy.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 12:50 pm Homologated is the key word right.

The 400 officially lands here in September, for less than 9k
I've no idea if that's good or not.
