Phone based mtb navigation app recommendations?

Post by millemille »

I'm off to Spain for me holidays in September, a place called Santa Susanna on the Costa Blanca. Been there quite a few times before and always drive down and take an mtb with me to do some gentle spinning about in the hills inland for a few hours in a vain attempt to stave off the gluttony and excess that all inclusive eating and drinking holidaying allows.

Not been since entering the world of emtbs and want to take advantage of the trails further inland that an emtb opens up.

What phone based apps for navigation off road do folks recommend?

I find komoot brilliant to be fair.

I've just ridden 20 miles from home to Monmouth and I let komoot work the route out through the forest, it took me to places that I haven't been to before and I found a whole load of trails that I didn't know existed.

I use a Garmin on my handlebars rather than a phone.

Phone will go flat pretty quick, I use a garmin and load the gpx to that when needed. I research the route using strava, komoot and websites with gpx routes then write my own gpx on strava and save it 😃

that's one of the things that I really like about Komoot, I save a route on my laptop and the next time I switch on the garmin it's there.... like magic  also creating a route on my mobile while out and about I can also send it to the garmin. You do need mobile signal for Komoot to create the route while out on the trail though.
