I saw that ^....I'm still not sure if it's the work of 'anti-religous' nutters, or if it's intended as irony/satire.
You'd like to assume to the latter but I doubt that's a safe bet.

I dunno about the whole Schofield thing, sure he was reputed to be a bit of a cunt off screen and there's a certain karma about his rather spectacular fall from grace, but the whole affair thing between 2 consenting adults should be their own business surely?
Clarkson chinned someone in the crew over a sandwich and he's considered a national treasure, Schofield wears the bumming hat and he's public enemy no.1?
Plus there's a more than a whiff of homophobia about his trashing. It's all very Brexity.

FFS. The world is going mad! A school district in the US state of Utah has removed the Bible from elementary and middle schools for containing "vulgarity and violence".
The move follows a complaint from a parent that the King James Bible has material unsuitable for children.
Utah's Republican government passed a law in 2022 banning "pornographic or indecent" books from schools.
Most of the books that have been banned so far pertain to topics such as sexual orientation and identity.
The banning of the Bible comes amid a larger effort by US conservatives in states to ban teachings on controversial topics such as LGBT rights and racial identity. Bans on certain books deemed offensive are also in place in Texas, Florida, Missouri and South Carolina. Some liberal states have also banned books in some schools and libraries, citing perceived racially offensive content.
But to ban an ancient book because it doesn't 'fit' with modern views is a bit mad, no??

I'd like to think it's a secular move to tone down religious nutjobs but as it's specifically the King James version I suspect the opposite is true and a Catholic group want rid of the closest opposition.Noggin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 12:47 pmFFS. Re: In todays news...
More or less mad than banning modern books on the same grounds? Law of unintended consequences innit. Religious conservatives want certain books and ideas banned from schools, the law which allows that also allows you to ban the Bible

How many victim cards can he roll out at once? He's probably looking for a racism angle in there as well.
Anything to detract from him being a dirty old man abusing his position, or should we turn a blind eye for gays?

Given that it's Utah, it might be a Mormon...
I can't understand why they think the book may be unsuitable for young minds...

Having the bible as a piece of literature is perfectly acceptable, having it a source of moral guidance is another thing altogether.

He's also saying that ITV should have done a better job of investigating in 2020 when the allegations first surfaced. Nothing to do with his sexual preferences; it's all to do with yet another celebrity that has admonished the behaviour of others whilst doing the exact same thing themselves. Funnily enough the public don't like that.MyLittleStudPony wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 12:11 pmI agree re. And before anyone says he mad a mistake and deserves a second chance, no he doesn't. As soon as you put yourself into the position of judging others, you better be squeaky clean yourself.

The people he’s interviewed over the years weren’t forced to come on the show and I’m assuming (I’ve never watched the show as I have a job) the guests in question would have been well aware of the questions before hand.westers151 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 6:57 pm

There’s plenty good moral guidance in the Bible. Luckily, we have the critical mind of the homo sapiens and can read the mad content of the Bible without imitating it.

If his career was a chat show host, and hadn't done the moral questioning, this would be a non event.
