Engine Protection

Post by tricol »

Afternoon everyone.

I'm looking at getting protection for the MT. What is best to go for, a full set of engine covers, or sliders on the frame/swingarm/forks?

I like the GB racing covers, but that doesn't cover all areas if I slide it down the road.

Thanks.

I've heard pros/cons of both. I've gone R&G folk/frame sliders and have paddock stand bobbins on the swingarm. My expectations of these are fairly low I got them mainly as protection from stationary/slow speed drops. The frame sliders are mainly for the tank/frame in a drop. I've heard on track sliders can dig in and flip the bike but on the road that's not really a thing, you're more likely to hit a curb, lampost etc will be a lot worse.

I suspect sliders plus engine covers is the most belt and braces but then that's a hefty cost. Cheaper than repair costs though so take your gamble.

Thanks. I have EVO Tech bobbins, and that's it atm.

Yea, the GB Racing covers are £280 for the full kit. But I know they are quality items.

R&G quality has taken a dive the last while. Evotech make good stuff and GB Racing gear is sound too.

Check owners groups and ebay for gear taken off when owners move on,some bargains to be had.
