Oh it's just that I follow someone on Instagram who sells craft stuff. Then, one day, out of the blue (literally! ) she posted up some pics of her doing the day job which is as a pilot flying to and from the Scilly Isles iirc.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 2:01 pmNo, a bloke with a beard. Re: What have you done today thread?
IT WAS SUNNY this morning So I went for a walk
Chatted with a mate and with my old work colleague!
Done some more sorting of what to take on Friday and what to pack in case I have to stay longer!
Sorted the freezer to make space for all the stuff I'd made
Now chilling and waiting for a text to tell me when the nurse will arrive yesterday to take my blood!!!

Re: What have you done today thread?
For me it's only been three weeks (ignoring the quick ride last Wednesday). I was in what a friend coined "Sagebrush Qualifier" mode. That's where we leave the RockStore & attempt to get the Sagebrush Cantina in under 15 minutes using the scenic route. This time I was riding fairly sedately until I reached "The Playground" section & then it was Game On..

Re: What have you done today thread?
Fucking hating the Ca DMV today..
Saturday I looked at the tags on the SBH, 1 month late.. well fuck. Didn't get a reminder/bill in the mail from the DMV, 2nd time this has happened. Last time I drove on expired tags for 9 months.
Hit AAA this morning instead of the DMV to avoid standing in line for half the day. Two people in line ahead of me instead of 100-200. Gal tells me "er, it's 13 months, not 1 month"
WTF? I've been driving on expired tags for over a year??
result: I end up paying $446 instead of about 150. plus $11 surcharge for using the credit card. godfuckingdammit
Bike tags: Another $189...plus $4 surcharge for using a credit card ( I knew that going in)
"Oh, you also need a smog check before I can issue the tags for the car..." WTF??
Without even asking she hands me a Permit To Move for the car. That gives me a day or so to be legally on the road between home, AAA & the Smog place. Like a Ferry Permit for an aircraft. Then says I can just walk up to her desk when I get back with the smog cert.
Drive to smog test place, Passed, no issues apart from having the give the fucking State another fucking $50.
Get back to AAA, there's now 8 people inline at the front desk & looking to the left I see another 6 or 7 inline for tags.
I go to the right, bypass both lines & just have to wait for her to finish with her current punter. Done & dusted in about 3 minutes
While I was there the first time I asked why I wasn't getting the reminder/bill in the mail. Turns out some incompetent fucktard at the DMV screwed up when I first registered the car in my name & the DMV had it on record that I was selling the car & the sale hadn't been completed. No idea where the hell they got that idea.

Dealt with a rather nasty bicycle crash around 0430 this morning. Poor bloke didn’t know what had happened, was in a place he shouldn’t have been while travelling between work and home, and had a nasty head injury. His helmet was split in half and he had a head injury.
Said it before, dangerous things these pushbikes!
Good work by the 2 lorry drivers who had bandaged his head and made the road safe by the time we arrived, top work.
Mick.

Nah, he was crossing a slip road, lots of industrial estates round there. But we do get silly sods on bikes on the motorway.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Trying to keep a bit occupied, the closer it gets to Friday the more my brain is spazzing out!!
Anyway, covid test and then a blood test first thing - covid for hospital, blood test for thyroid doc! I have bruises in the crooks of both elbows cos the first attempt failed The other two nurses do it much less painfully! Not always first time success, but hey ho. Done now!
Made brownies to share with some friends, sorted some paperwork, then drove to the valley - no real reason to go down other than doing something other than just sitting! My mate did his mad cycling through the trees!! Came back up and we sat in the sun with another mate for a bit.
Came home to find that the CD of the CT Scan of my shoulder had arrived. I'm a bit disapointed as the images are basically like an xray, only not so sharp!! The CTs from emergency after the accident and of my knee were colour and really clear, but it's still interesting! Now waiting on the CD from the knee CT Scan coming!
Anyway, for anyone really bored, here's what a not great quality scan of a prosthetic shoulder that's probably moved (well, the radiologist said it has moved a bit, the stem in the humerus is not in the same place and so the ball doesn't sit as it did!!) - but as it's not causing issues at the mo, we're all ignoring that (hopefully it isn't the reason that the nerves in my arm are playing up!! ) - there were 1198 images, so I've just picked a few! I don't have any previous CT images to compare it to
