I had some unobtanium (well they ARE available as OE but they are crap, hence why I was looking for some, and also quite pricey) aircon knobs for my car printed by some guy on eBay. Given that the parts are quite tiny and need to be spot-on perfect for a click-fit on tiny little catches, I was surprised how accurate they could be printed. There's certainly a market for this sorta thing.

I was going to buy a badge and paint it in the Rasta colours but since found it has been done so looking for some kind of spin on the badge. I was thinking Convoy but probably to big a word to be noticeable. Even my initials RWA But something colourful but keeping inline with the LDV logo. Rough size is 8" wide and 4.5 deep. I can get exact dimensions later

UV resistant is obviously important so yea only other criteria would be fitting it. I was thinking of just using Sikaflex as that sticks like shite to a blanket and soaks up vibration . Mil is coming up from the Manc tomorrow for the W/E so i shall get proper dimensions for the start of the week when she goes home and rattle some ideas up

Just checked and PETG is food safe. Hmmm...personalised mugs, drink containers...*ponder*

It can be, but I've seen it fail both 10/2011 & LFGB.
If you've got 100% pure PETG and it's going through a machine thats never printed with anything but, it might be OK.

Would it need to be food safe if it's a sleeve/handle affair...

Can't imagine it would need to be. A custom handled sleeve for a standard cup could work. How thin walled can you go with the kit/PETG?

(At a pottery show I saw a demo by a bloke that had built his own device, using an old x/y plotter*, to lay down coils of plasticised clay slip to build sort of complex coil pots. Tricky to get the slip and speed right because of the weight building up before it hardened, but when he got it right the fired ceramics were quite impressive. Can't think of any other way you'd produce anything like it).

* not sure how he dealt with z, poss a stepper motor on the nozzle shaft. It was all a bit Heath Robinson, I think he used a foot pump to pressurise the feed! Had to admire his ingenuity though.

I could easily add the text but then it would be even more "yours" than it is now. I couldn't find an original version so I hade to draw this one from scratch. Be interesting to know where you got it if that's not lost in the mists of time.

In all seriousness, I wondered if making a "personalised" avatar print would be a potential business opportunity. I assumed they would sell themselves! But they take ages to redraw, format and then of course print and they have to be cheap somehow. If the "test" works, I might be able to come up with some more automated process.

I have agreed with Weeksy that this sort of advertising/selling is ok in its own section so no it shouldn't be part of the man forum since it's not really a discussion. I might drop a couple of hints in appropriate threads if they don't detract from the topic at hand.

But yes, thanks again, they are compelling little souvenirs. The most compelling part is when you're holding one of these virtual, non fungible tokens as a real, solid item in your hot sweaty hands...

Does this make sense? I dong have digital callipers to get the smaller measurements but i think as the two sided tape will be 1-2mm thick anyway its probably best this me made slightly larger to overlap the old badge recess.

This is what LDV did to cheer up the badgeon the later vans. Bin LDV and add Maxus. I was thinking Convoy in my badge but unsure of colours. The silver van will be getting painted white soon. Last picture s the standard badge.

The confusion is in LDV, MAXUS and Convoy.

Do you mean the current one you don't want is LDV and they changed that from MAXUS which you also don't want but you want to try and squeeze the word "Convoy" into that space?

Yes sorry. The silver LDV/Maxus is just to show you what they did with the later motors to cheer up the badge. I have both the Maxus and Convoy. I am looking for a badge for the Convoy.

I think i want do change LDV to Convoy that should look better. The right if the badge recess on the grill already had a Y angle but, I was thinking a font called Kashmir as i am a bit of a Led Zep fan. Its probably the closest font to the Led Zeppelin logo font but i cant get it bold enough (See Pic) using paint.net. It does not have to be white over red if you think some other colours would work. If you think it may look better with the Swan song record label logo in it somewhere then great i am just not all that artistic enough to put it down as print using pain.net type software.
