I forgot..

They were painting the lampposts green and Elvis decided to have a poo against one and reversed up to it. He's strange.
He was on his lead so dragged him off.
Too late. Paint all over him.
Came straight home.
Paint was oil based so couldn't just wash it.
Had no thinners so had to use petrol.
No choice. Couldn't let him lick the paint.


Had big bucket of soapy water at the ready.
Was risky dipping his tail in petrol but had no choice really. And then washed higher up.
I got most off but suddenly started yelping. Was in pain.
Washed with soapy water but he was still in pain
Eventually just jumped in the pool with him and that sorted him out. Got rid of any irritants

Walked the dog first thing. She had a lovely play time with some dogs she knows. Home to do prayers, then out on the bike to do a visit, then off to the Clergy Chapter Meeting to lead prayers there. Back home, then out to collect wife and have a longer afternoon walk. Dog met up with another puppy she played with before and had a fabulous time running about. Headed back home and then out on the bike to a Deanery Synod meeting. On the way out of the church yard, a pedestrian walking past gives the bike a big thumbs up and shouted his appreciation of old Triumph Speed Triple. Gave a me a good laugh. Filled the up with 99+RON at the local Esso. Bike will run more smoothly on the good juice. Got home a short while ago. Most riding I've done in a while.

Went to see the venerable James at the Royal Albert Hall last night (I can class it as 'today' as we didn't get in 'til gone midnight. On a school night, too!). It was the last date on their 'Lasted' tour, celebrating 40 years. Impressive gig, involving a 22-piece orchestra and gospel choir, all seamlessly interwoven into their songs. The RAH is a lovely building too, with bloody good acoustics, it has to be said.

Mrs. G made me laugh. She said she'd never seen such a sea of bald heads in front of her. I did feel a bit old, it must be said.

Last week, wife found 50p, then 20p then another 20p each time she parked up. I jokingly said her luck was in and I should get her a Lottery ticket.

So we're now £9 10p down.

(Well, I'm £10 down, she's 90p up).

Strolling along yesterday, I found a Eur10 note. Bloody handy as I'm off to Italy next weekend.

Yeah, but even looking up at them, they have a beauty of their own.

£22 for a large Merlot and pint of Level Head IPA took some of the shine off, mind....

I saw 'Laughing' Leonard Cohen at the RAH and a section of the audience complained that they couldn't hear him. It was a localised effect so I guess that his sound engineers were to blame. OTOH, been to quite a few Proms and even solo cello performances were acoustically

On a similar note, had a trip 'behind the scenes' at the RFH and they'd had a 'mare getting the acoustics right. On paper the acoustics should have been but it's a bit of a dark art. They even went as far as changing the seat covering fabric to try and sort it (something to do with trying to make an empty seat behave like one with a person in iirc. Bodies have a big damping effect.

It was an interesting half day if you're interested in architecture (brutalism!)...the auditorium is basically a box on legs with the public space just the hole underneath. I think it's just something you could book with the RFH but looking on-line they don't seem to do it any more.

Today I have fitted a 4-way Hozelock tap as part of my water management strategy/infrastructure.

More importantly I've rescued a hornet!

(I'd pumped a load of water from a connected chain of 4 butts that fill from the greenhouse roof so I hoiked the lid off one to see if any more had collected since I'd done it. There was something quite large floating and moving weakly, so I fished it out on a tissue and parked it on top of a butt. It cleaned itself up then, eventually got the wings opened and working. Then yay! Lift off! Amazing things close up. Dunno how long it had been there but it's a fortunate hornet. I've sealed up any holes so unless they climb down the drain from the greenhouse gutter nothing else will get in. Did find a smelly, rather bloated blue tit in one of the 250 litre ones once so always try to make sure birds can't get in but didn't expect to find one if these little(?) beauties).

Swam 600m today. Not bad for first time in a big pool in 5 years.
Aimed for 400 but kept going.
Had to stop at 600m as eyes hurting. Bloody agony now

Got to 600m quite easily today. Was aiming for 700m but felt good so pushed on to 800m.
Might have managed a bit more but didn't want to raise the bar too high for next time

According to big clock I was doing about 1m 12s per pair of 25m lengths.
Last pair I gave it some and sprinted and splashed to 58s.

Then i was knackered

Went to Stater Bros supermarket to pick up the stuff I forget to get at Wally World yesterday.

Now I have a list of the stuff I forgot to get at Stater Bros today... altho tbf, the list is two items: A large tater & a snadger for my upcoming Carnesh Pasties/Cornish Pasadas*


*Based on using carne asada instead of regular skirt for the next batch of pasties.
