Shorty casual style motorcycle suitable boots

Post by Mr Moofo »

I'm using the bike far more now as transport to and from stuff, so rather than always wearing my Alpinestars Goretex boots, I was looking for something a little more in keeping.

The list is:-

Anyone had any real world experience of these ?
Thanks

I've got some RST boots similar to those TCX ones..

They are comfy enough but are much more rigid than a hi-top sneaker.

They are a bit of a pig to pull on without really slackening off the laces and the leather scuffed really easily.

They are much warmer than a normal trainer too so if you're indoors with them on expect sweaty feet.

Not on your list but I've had a pair of Alpinestars J6s for a probably four years now and they're comfy enough off the bike that I often wear them in the cooler months just as normal footwear.

They've done around 6000 miles of riding and hardly show any wear at all. Probably the best wearing laces I've ever had in a pair of shoes/trainers, too.

The ones with a liner tend to feel quite bulky, but comfy enough.

I've got what I'm guessing are the older version of the TCX, the Street Ace. They are well made and reasonably comfy although stiffer than actual trainers, they also need the laces loosening a lot to get on as mentioned above. I went with the waterproof versions and wish I hadn't as they are pretty warm in hot weather and my TCX proper boots are cooler to wear whilst riding as well. Mine are a grey soft leather and the left boot has discoloured with what I presume is brake dust/chain lube. They came with a gear change strap but that fell off ages ago. I wore them tonight funnily enough. I think I only paid about 80 quid in a sale.

A* J6's for me.

Although they seem to be running at £170 now, could've sworn they were a £100 max when I go them, them's comfy and waterproof

In that situation I wear standard black safety boots ( Walklander branded ). They have a rigid construction and highish ankle. Kept polished they look smart and I have walked a couple of miles in them without discomfort. My preferred footwear for the scooter too. Even so I much prefer my Forma boots for serious riding.

As well as looking more in keeping, these boots have the advantage you no longer need that Polite vest to be seen :D

I ended up with some DXR ones which look a little like big boy's Converse
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/356821

Also bought some Forma ones as in the link) but they do look a little challenging - they will be going back
