Has anyone got any experience with the "scissor" type work ramps?

There's a few on the market at the moment, from that cheap one, to things like 2 grand Sealey products.

I'm considering one because my shed isn't long enough to fit one of the more usual type that go up and down in an arc.

I was initially looking at the SGS one, https://www.sgs-engineering.com/sml450- ... lift-450kg, but they don't have any yet.

I have a regular ABBA bike stand (with Triumph fittings oddly), and did try it on the Featherbed, but there's nothing really for it to latch into that's at the right height.

I want the bikes higher up anyway, hence looking for a bench.

Doesn't have the front-wheel clamp, or the loading ramp, and is twice the price of the one in the first link.....

I suspect most are actually from the same suppliers in Shenzen, just painted to desired colour and with different stickers.

I thought similarly about getting fittings for my 350LC, but Abba produce fittings that lock on to the swingarm pivot bolt/nut. I'd have thought that they would be able to do something similar for your Norton (imperially speaking, of course). And if the Puch has a 'conventional' swingarm mounting, they should be able to cater for that as well.

Have you contacted them about options? What's on their website is just the tip of the iceberg as to what fittings they offer.

No, he's had it longer than I've known him, so over 7 years and uses it a lot, which isn't very helpful

TBH, The Abba I've got doesn't lift the bike high enough, and I'd rather have a bench.

I have one that looks very similar to the one in the first link on loan, the one I have is actually designed for small bikes and it isn't long enough to support the rear wheel of my tiger, you have to use a centre stand with it which is a nightmare to do when you clamp the front wheel and then try to get it on the centre stand. I landed up jacking the bike up under the bash plate to lower the centre stand.
It's also not wide enough to use my ancient micron paddock stand.

Wouldn't you put it on the centre stand first, then shunt it forwards into the clamp?

TBH most of my use would be with a mini-lift under the frame anyway.

Sorry - I was thinking along the lines of a Skylift (which uses the same fittings) - that will get the bike higher than any bench, and it means the bike can be moved around the garage to suit. It is spendy, though.
