I assumed that stock wheels should be used ???
They were and that's where the problem arose - as carbon or composite wheels are against the NW200 regulations.

Why this wasn't picked up in scrutineering, earlier in the week, is the question of the moment.

Real shame as Faye Ho and her team are big supporters of the NW200.
I suppose it's to keep out super expensive sooper dooper versions.
Nope, its to stop a repeat of Robert Dunlop's exploding wheel accident from 1994 AFAIK.

Which is a load of ballix as the Carbon wheels are far stronger.

Are 'they'* trying to finish the NW200?? How the fuck was this not picked up last year? Why just before the qualifying, not at scrutineering??

* I have no idea who 'they' are, but this smacks of total stupidity, incompetence or a 'we've found a way to finish road racing' :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

According to this article FHO have previously raced at the NW200 with carbon wheels
I'll leave this here https://bikesportnews.com/tt-and-roads/ ... -of-nw200/
I wonder how Farquar & Cooper fare with the officials this year in the Supertwins..

I was just thinking the same thing, Ryan F isn't Mr Popular with some folk and he's quite "forthright" in putting his views across which rubs people up the wrong way.

If Seeley is running a 2023 bike with non standard wheels, then he should be out on his ear, end of story, along with the scrutineers who let the FHO bikes out to practice. It just seems very convenient that the organisers' golden boy keeps the win with a blatant rule violation when the main rivals get the boot at the last minute.

It's a fucking shambles of the highest order.

Last year, Richard Cooper lost both of his Supertwin wins after his KMR Kawasaki was found to be running an illegal fairing.

Team boss Ryan Farquhar appealed the decision and a final verdict has yet to be reached 12 months on.

Tells you what they are up against. As if the sport isn't in enough bother without the rules jobsworths. I wonder how the big sponsors will view this for future years.

They won't care as long as they get whatever product they're hawking onto those banners on the metal fences they've been using to block what was always viewing areas for the public.

The NW200 isn't the same event it was even 20 years ago, the goodness has been sucked out of it, it supposedly brings in 16 million quid but outside Portrush or Portstewart who gets the benefit apart from Stena? Portrush still looks like it was bombed by the Luftwaffe in places and much of the beauty has been taken away by developers sticking shoebox apartments on any vacant bit of ground. And the council and DFI won't be able to afford it. Especially as the roads outside the circuit are falling to bits.

Its all one big crumbling mess

Spoiler
Basically the final race was red flagged and in typical NW200 fashion the organisers couldn't work out if Irwin or Seeley had actually won it.

Time for Mervin to step aside, along with whoever is responsible for the decision making. They've done a good job in the past, but the debacle of this year has shown it needs fresh blood.

Good racing

After this year, I can't see that bloke coughing up a few hundred k again for the insurance.

And fair play to Faye Ho for letting Hickman find another ride, I can't imaginge Birdy doing that.

TBF, very few things annoy me here (mildly irritate maybe!!) but the fact that I can't see WSB, BSB or road racing without faffing about with a VPN does annoy me a smidge - since I'm so not technical!! Although even when I did, I still couldn't get Discovery+ so that didn't work anyway for BSB and WSB!

For a country that seems to love motorbikes, I'm a bit surprised French TV doesn't at least show the WSB!!
