Not sure older gents should be riding older sports bikes or even new one's come to that. We're not as flexi as we were, ours joints are getting knackered. OK, maybe a short spin now and then.

Classic trackdays maybe, but road use not for me. Plus, compared to modern bike's they're gonna be fairly shite anyway.

That was the assumption I was questioning. We’re given a stream of new stuff but I’d the old stuff (with servicing and fresh suspension) absolutely fine.

I'm 6'2.I had a 919 Blade and found it cramped. I had a ZX9R c2 and found it quite comfortable. I've never sat on a modern sportsbike though as I have zero interest in them. None of them have a riding position that would suit me. I dislike leaning forward and sticking my feet up behind me.

Whenever I've sat on a sportsbike it feels like someones pushed me over! The most ridiculous bike I ever rode was a 916. I only got about 500 yards down the road and then I did a 26 point turn and gave it back.

KTM RC8 or RC8R. Adjustable bars, footpegs and subframe. You should be able to get it to suit you (I did aged 60). The seat maybe thin, but it is perfectly shaped to make riding for 8 hours a day possible.
Rode my RC8 to Slovakia, and a year later down through the Balkans as far as North Macedonia.

Whenever I've sat on a sportsbike it feels like someones pushed me over! The most ridiculous bike I ever rode was a 916. I only got about 500 yards down the road and then I did a 26 point turn and gave it back.

That made me laugh out loud!! LOL I rode a 916 once. Got off a Blackbird onto the Ducati - never ridden a sports bike before!! I described it as riding a 5 bar gate whilst holding onto the bar second from the bottom!!

Bloody awesome bike though. Downside for me was I'm way too short for something with a side stand on a spring! Had to wait for my mate to come back with my bike so he could hold the side stand down so I could actually get off the bike!!!


My old riding buddy had a ZX9r - he loved it. I road it and it felt like a space ship!! But I'd got off a 390 Duke that day! LOL

The C2 ZX9 was probably ergonomically the best bike I ever had.
But I was nearly 25 years younger

One of those was on the cards before I bought the superduke and I really regret not taking that path. The one I sat on was way more comfortable than other sports bikes I've ridden (although I only rode it around the car park).
