East Hampshire being blue for a very long time, today the Tories lost control. They’ve also been given a proper shoeing nationally.

I cannot stand Kier Starmer anymore and actually voted yellow- but it might (might) be a positive sign that these incompetent tories are on their last lap.

Usually this triggers something stupid to jump the shark, like a war, but we’ll see.

The Tories have made a pigs ear of recent events, but the alternatives look equally unattractive. My natural inclinations are conservative (with a small C) but in the past I have voted Tory, Labour and Liberal. I honestly don't know who I would vote for today, probably Tory again IF they don't do anything too stupid for a bit.

As money flows to the party most likely to win the next election its worth noting that the conservatives are struggling for cash at the moment, to the point where one of their party offices sacked the cleaners.

Starmer should be wiping the floor with the Conservatives, or that's what some might think. As things stand, He’s DOWN on his last effort (2022), hence the BBC spinning it against 2019. He’s up 7%. To win a GE he needs 12%. The votes are going to the Liberal (anti democrats) and the Greens. It’s a protest vote. It’s also a protest against Starmer as well as the Conservatives. In reality, It’s a disaster for Starmer despite the smile on his face..........he's just not doing as well as he'd hoped to have done.

The Tories are twats - the incompetence, incoherent policy making, shameful leadership(s) in any other situation of business would have them out on their ears, fined, probably imprisoned. The Tory war-machine, funded by big business (a conspiracy most of the conspiracists ignore, preferring to bang on about Biden) will grind into gear and slate Labour into oblivion.

So yes Starmer probably needs to be farther ahead right now to win.

East Herts has been Conservatives forever, they went from 27 to 16 councillors. Biggest party are now the Greens, they went from 1 councillor to 19! No overall control though for anyone

That's spin too. You want to compare general election votes with local mid(ish) term election votes (because it suits your preferred narrative) rather than note that in the local elections the Tories have done worse than in the previous local elections...where they did badly too.

I don't imagine that the Conservative constituency groups were partying hard last night. More like preparing to tell their MP to get themselves sorted out at Westminster. The Lib Democrats in the south probably cracked open a bottle of prosecco though.

I don't think Labour can be particularly happy about the local elections though? Whilst they can go on about the Tory party losing over 1000 seats, they've only picked up just over 500 of those, hardly inspiring? Surely they should have picked up at least three quarters to show that they're the party people want.
The LibDems and Green parties are the ones who've done well on the back of the Tory demise.
