Today was just a cruisy day... in some ways even though i've got enduro/trails/crazy all the time, i do miss just being out and cruising around.

So today was just exactly that... a short ride and cruising around, taking it easy

Got to love a nice empty field on a sunny day!

How's the air shock feeling?

I had a very pleasant ride the other day, about 30 miles, all country lanes and just crossing the main roads. Very quiet roads surrounded by those pollony yellow fields, lovely.

On the way home and first time I've seen it open , I popped in this place for a pint of Rhapsody beer and a homegrown pork pie. 🍺 + 🥮 = 🙂👍

I went back to the coil after last nights ride at FoD, it's hard to say if it was just the shock, or maybe the conditions or maybe even just the rider, but i couldn't get happy at all last night. So the shock is off and up for sale again.

Also swapped the front rotor for a SRAM one, the other was warbling and gobbling like a bunch of turkeys.

Race number on again yesterday, Southern Enduro series at Milland.
A friendly ex-colleague of mine raced the Milland enduro on the same day. No idea how he did, I only saw a FB post and photo of him on the day. Mental note to get in touch with him...

BIt of a nightmare yesterday for me... We were out in Surrey Hills. I found early on i'd made an incorrect clothing choice and the jacket i had on was too much... So was overheating lots. I'd been out riding on Sat too so that didn't help the legs either. Surrey was mostly the tech trails off the top of the lookout point, which is very much my weakness... Grrrrr. I was hanging with my mate on the faster trails, but the tech i struggled. Then on Captain Clunk on the root section in the bottom 1/3 i came a cropper and smashed the crap out of my knee/shin, which is really sodding painful. I had on knee protection but it was such an impact that i can barely move this morning. Also bashed my finger which is a minor incovenience more than a massive issue... but the shin... Ow !
It did show that i need to get out on the tech more... Just a bit crap really... Meh.

It was positively Mediterranean up there yesterday...unlike today. :(

Get some ice on that knee - if you haven't already. Might be worth an x-ray if it was a really bad impact.

Goodo! Still, I'm a great believer in 'giving it some RICE'...for just about every injury that doesn't involve blood loss.

(Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation....any encouragement to rest and put my feet up is welcomed  ).

And...the sun has come out. Boots on, back later....there's a bacon butty out there somewhere with my name on it...

I will give you some of my wife's advice - she uses it after I have done these sort of things.

Trying to get out more now the weather is improving, really need to get back on top of my fitness, rather than just either crazy hang on type rides or Zwift races, get back to some enjoying the hills, trails, pathways.

This was the highest hill locally at lunch today

Still not given up on the air shock. I have it listed for sale but interest is slim, i had an OK offer last week but was £20 under my lowest, so thought i'd have the air another whirl tonight at FoD.

I've now set it this morning to 65 stroke. Although one of you will need to answer if a 62.5 would lower the BB or not compared to a 65mm. I don't know if you get the 2.5mm more at the top end or the bottom end so to speak.. But it's not important.
I'm going to take both shocks and swap between them on known trails to experiment and see. But as it's a 2 minute job to swap i could just run the air for more XC days to shave 500gr off and have it a smidgen lighter, then run it on coil on the bigger harder days... Maybe.

I've dropped the fork pressure a bit from 100-90 as i noticed last night that even on the bigger impacts i was only using about 45%. Although yesterday was pretty tame in terms of terrain.

Spent time setting up the Air. But still prefer the coil. Wanted to give it another try though

i just noticed when swapping shock back to the coil i had been trying the Ride-4 position differently to some of my previous riding.

I used to run it in the slackest setting which gives 63.7deg head angle. But it seems i'd swapped to P3 which gives 64.5deg, sure it's not night and day of course, but it certainly will feel slightly different. Also P3 gives a slightly longer reach of 8mm.

So i've put it back to fully slack now and will do some riding at the weekend.

Out today and ooft it wasn't an easy day. Crust and Josh both on Ebikes and in the FoD area the trails are up and down. Rode lots pushed fairly hard.

Slayer, jeeeez it's brilliant
