I think I'd just apply a liberal dob of clear grease to it and keep a rag handy if I needed to turn it.

A thread about Potter polishing his cock and not a single 'Fnarr!' comment?

I thought it was about ensuring one's sex workers remained presentable in appearance. :(

Belgom Alu is great for polishing brass, copper or aluminium. It's supposed to leave a protective coating too,but with salty water it may need something more durable.

It's not relevant at all but this thread has sparked a memory for me - the house I grew up in had a brass front step and one of the jobs I used to have was polishing it. I'd completely forgotten about it until just now and it's a very nice memory, so thanks.

And congratulations on the new lease of life for your cock.

I assume the boat was out of the water when he took his cock out.

If it only needs doing once every 40 years then I wouldn't bother doing anything.

It's been retired and it's a decorative piece in my cottage now, it's worn inside and was leaking a bit.
Ah. Skub's suggestion should do the trick. You could try a lacquer of some sort but I suspect it will still darken somewhat and then be difficult to shine up again.

Being of positive attitude, I like to start from the 'whatever you do, you can't win' baseline.

Varnish will discolour, crack, get scratched
Brasso leaves white residue in nooks and crannies
Oil will get onto anything that touches

And, again, not only is Potter polishing his cock, now he's determined to expose it to other people - but still no 'Fnarr' comments.

You can't really?

If it is kept on the boat and exposed to salt water, regular polish is the only way
