I've got a new 57cm Weber kettle and want to try doing some slow cooking. I've been watching an Aussie YouTuber(Schueys BBQ) and he uses an ambient temp sensor and of course a food thermometer. Seems I'm spoilt for choice when I start looking on Amazon etc. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced pair to get me started?
TIA

If money were no object I'd go for a Meater.
But it is so I didn't, I went for Inkbird instead.
This for long term monitoring whilst smoking;
And this for spot checking quick cooks;
If they both got nicked tomorrow I'd replace 'em like for like, OK that's a lie, I'd upgrade the 4 channel one to a 6 channel one, but same make.

Not sure if I'll stick with the slow roasting and smoking etc and might just go back to burning sossies, so this will (more than) suffice for now...MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 10:40 am If money were no object I'd go for a Meater.

Re: Recommend me a ambient temp senor and food thermometer
I’ve got the inkbird, never got around to trying smoking again* but I have used it loads when cooking different joints in the oven at Christmas etc and found it great. The phone app(s) is ok but I rarely use it as I’m typically in the kitchen doing other things so can keep on top of the cooking process.
* I tried to smoke an Aldi Porchetta joint, it turned out bloody awful which may be as a result of the flavourings added to the pork by Aldi, not controlling the heat in the kettle (was before I had the inkbird) or not actually liking smoked meat…
I may give it another go this year before consigning the kettle to the bin. I may even remove the oil drum I’ve had in my eBay watch list to make a UDS from should that happen
